The Marvel Cinematic Universe might already have many powerful characters, but there are still some huge Marvel superpowers that have not yet appeared in the franchise. From the very beginning of the MCU’s movie timeline, the franchise has introduced a number of incredibly powerful Marvel characters onto the big screen in live-action. However, considering the massive scope of the Marvel Universe as established in the comics, there are still many aspects of its stories that have yet to make it into the franchise.

In fact, there are several superpowers that have not yet been established in the movies of the MCU. Some have been hinted at or directly set up, and others have been carefully danced around, but the fact remains that some of Marvel’s most powerful abilities haven’t been properly introduced into the MCU. With that in mind, here are 10 of the biggest Marvel superpowers that have yet to appear in the MCU.

The Power Cosmic
Galactus And The Silver Surfer Will Introduce The Power Cosmic To The MCU
Close
In the Marvel Universe, the Power Cosmic is a hugely important source of power. An infinite supply of cosmic energy, the Power Cosmic is primarily wielded by the colossal godlike being Galactus. Many of the other most notable characters to make use of the Power Cosmic are the heralds of Galactus, such as the Silver Surfer. As none of these characters have yet appeared in the MCU, neither has the Power Cosmic.
As Galactus and the Silver Surfer will make their long-awaited MCU debuts as part of the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Power Cosmic is soon sure to appear. It has always been the main source of Galactus’ power in the comics, and will certainly play a part in his MCU characterization. The immense potential of the Power Cosmic makes it one of the most exciting superpowers yet to appear in the MCU, making its debut seem all the more exciting.

Precognition
Glimpses Into The Future Have Not Been Established As A Specific Ability
Close
Another hugely powerful ability that often appears in the stories of Marvel Comics is precognition. Some of the most well-known precognitives in the Marvel Universe are mutants, though there are many other characters who possess the ability. As mutants have not yet made their official MCU debut, neither has precognition been specifically demonstrated as an ability in its own right.
The MCU has introduced characters who possess precognitive powers in the comics, however. Captain Marvel is one notable example, and Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense could also be considered similar to precognition. However, Captain Marvel has not demonstrated precognition in the MCU, and Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense is widely thought of as a separate ability. As such, the appearance of a full-fledged precog in the MCU is almost certainly a cause for much anticipation due to the hugely powerful nature of the ability.

Technopathy
Technopathy Has Not Been Properly Established In The MCU
Close
Technopathy is defined as the ability to control technology with the mind, and there are a number of notable Marvel technopaths. Though a handful of these characters have actually appeared in the MCU, none have specifically exhibited the ability. As such, it’s another notably powerful ability that is a regular aspect of the Marvel Universe that has not yet been adapted into the MCU.
Perhaps the most well-known technopath in the Marvel Universe is Tony Stark, who at one stage gained the ability in a major power upgrade. The narrative wasn’t adapted into the MCU ahead of Stark’s death, and now seems unlikely to occur. Many of the other notable technopaths, such as Cable and Nova, have not been introduced into the franchise, and therefore technopathy may well make an appearance in the MCU’s future.
7
Speed-Related Time Travel
Quicksilver’s Ability To Travel Through Time Wasn’t Discovered Before His Death
Close
Time travel is a staple of many fantastical and science fiction stories, and the Marvel Universe is no exception. It has featured in the MCU through magical and technological means, though a specific ability from the comics has not been established in the franchise. Quicksilver is a notable example of a Marvel character able to time travel without magic or technology using his super speed, though this has not been a part of the MCU’s handling of the hero.
As Quicksilver has made only one canonical appearance in the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron which ended in his death, the MCU has not been able to establish the ability. The introduction of mutants into the MCU may afford the franchise an opportunity to revive Quicksilver using the Multiverse, making it potentially possible in the future. However, to date, the MCU has not featured organic time travel abilities.
6
Teleportation
There Are Several Marvel Characters Who Can Teleport
Close
The ability to teleport is another major superpower that has not yet been fully introduced into the MCU. It has featured in the Marvel Universe on many occasions, with some of the most notable characters to possess the ability being the mutants Nightcrawler, Blink, and Magik. Considering the origins of those characters, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the MCU has not yet featured a character capable of teleportation.
Though the superpower itself has not appeared, the franchise has introduced the concept. Characters such as Doctor Strange and Wong are able to teleport using magic to create portals, and there have been a number of technological teleportation methods also established. Even so, a character capable of teleporting without the use of magic or technology has not yet appeared in the franchise, meaning that the superpower itself has been absent within the MCU.
5
Gravity Powers
Gravity Manipulation Could Shake Up The MCU
Close
Though it may not be one of the most well-known superpowers, gravity manipulation is undeniably a hugely powerful abiliity. Being able to control and manipulate gravitational fields is something that a number of Marvel characters are capable of, and has been used with devastating consequences on occasion. As well as having potential planetary effects, it’s an ability that is sometimes used to create gravitational blasts that lend extreme strength to attacks.
Some notable Marvel characters capable of gravity manipulation are Nova, Nate Grey, and Meteorite. None of these figures have yet appeared in the MCU, with only Nova having been vaguely alluded to. As such, it may be some time before gravity powers are formally introduced to the MCU despite the hugely powerful potential of the ability, as there is not clear path to introduce any of the characters traditionally capable of using it.
4
Magnetism
Magneto’s Impressive Abilities Have Not Made Their MCU Debut
Close
Though Magneto was one of the most important characters in the MCU’s X-Men ‘97, his iconic ability has not been introduced into the main universe of the live-action franchise. It may seem on the surface to be a relatively mundane power, but Magneto’s use of his magnetic manipulation ability has often been seen to have devastating consequences. The sheer scale of Magneto’s power makes him one of the most powerful X-Men characters, and therefore his live-action appearance in the MCU is much anticipated.

The MCU has begun laying the foundations for the debut of mutants within the franchise, though it is unclear which specific mutants will appear. There are a handful of other Marvel characters who also possess magnetic abilities, though none as high profile as Magneto. Although the power has appeared in one of the MCU’s animated series, magnetic manipulation has not made an appearance in the main franchise to date.
3
Weather Manipulation
Storm’s Deceptively Powerful Mutation Will Make A Great Addition To The Franchise
Close
Though she may have been a major character in the movies of Fox’s X-Men franchise, Storm has not been a part of the main MCU timeline thus far. As one of the most prominent members of the iconic mutant team, Storm is an especially well-known Marvel character. Her ability to manipulate weather is almost as iconic as the character herself, and it has regularly proved to be one of the most substantial mutant powers in the Marvel Universe.
Much like Magneto, Storm’s abilities have not yet been featured in the MCU’s main universe. Thor’s own ability to summon and control lightning is the closest thing in the franchise, though it isn’t as versatile as Storm’s ability to control all forms of weather. Considering the creative and even cosmic ways in which Storm has been able to use the ability, it will surely prove a major addition to the franchise upon her full debut.
2
Telepathy
There Are Multiple Notable Mutant Telepaths Yet To Debut In The MCU
Close
One of the biggest superpowers to not yet be properly established in the MCU, telepathy has been notably absent from the franchise. The use of telepathy to control and manipulate the thoughts of others or communicate using only the mind has not been fully introduced, especially as some of Marvel’s most iconic wielders of the ability haven’t yet appeared. The likes of Charles Xavier and Jean Grey have not made their MCU debuts in the main timeline, leaving few opportunities for telepathy to be properly introduced.
The only character to potentially have used telepathy in the MCU is Cassandra Nova, who appeared as the main antagonist in the cast of Deadpool & Wolverine. However, the movie did not outline her actual abilities, and whether or not she used traditional telepathy was not entirely clear. Seeing a powerful telepath such as Professor X appear in the main MCU timeline would serve as an exciting formal introduction of telepathy to the franchise.
1
Energy Manipulation
Manipulating Energy Can Prove A Versatile And Destructive Power
Close
Though it may not sound like one of the biggest superpowers in the Marvel Universe, energy manipulation is one of the most powerful abilities there is. Perhaps its most notable wielder is Vulcan, who is capable of absorbing, manipulating, and controlling vast amounts of energy. Cyclops’ brother is an Omega-level mutant who has often featured in X-Men stories, where he has proven to be one of Marvel’s most powerful figures.
Vulcan’s ability to control a wide range of energies, including magical and cosmic, makes him a versatile and deceptively powerful character. His ability hasn’t yet appeared in the franchise, or even been teased in any real way. Though the path to introducing Vulcan’s energy manipulation into the Marvel Cinematic Universe might not yet be clear, it’s still a major ability that has not yet appeared in the franchise.
