10 Most Rewatchable MCU Fight Scenes That Never Get Old

There are a number of fight scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that just never seem to get old. Throughout the MCU’s movie timeline, the franchise has introduced many heroes and villains adapted from the pages of Marvel Comics. Central to their stories is the struggle between good versus evil, which, more often than not, results in some form of combat between the MCU’s protagonists and antagonists.

It’s unsurprising, then, that the movies of the MCU have featured a great many action scenes since the franchise’s inception in 2008. While many of these scenes are excellent, there are only a select few that genuinely never seem to get old, no matter how often they’re revisited. Whether due to the emotion involved in the scene’s narrative, the excellent fight choreography, or simply the epic scale of the moment, here are the 10 most rewatchable MCU fight scenes that never get old.

10

The Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Hallway Fight

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

Though there are many memorable moments leading up to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s ending, the movie’s most impressive action sequence is its hallway fight scene. Precipitated by Rocket declaring that he’s “done runnin’” from the High Evolutionary, the team begins to fight their way through his forces. Set to Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”, the ensuing fight scene is one of the MCU’s most brilliantly realized.

The fact that many of the heroes are rendered in CGI complicates things, as does the one-shot nature of the scene. All of this is carried off excellently, though, with the action flowing from one hero to the next, giving each the spotlight at least once during the battle. It’s a scene in which so many elements, thematic, visual, and musical, come together so perfectly as to make it endlessly rewatchable.

9

T’Challa’s Coronation

Black Panther (2018)

2018’s Black Panther is widely considered one of the MCU’s best solo movies, with a number of scenes standing out as especially well-made. One of the movie’s earliest action scenes comes during the coronation of T’Challa as King of Wakanda, during which he is challenged to ritual combat by M’Baku. T’Challa is then stripped of his abilities before facing M’Baku in battle before the amassed clans of Wakanda.

As well as being a great fight scene, T’Challa’s coronation is hugely memorable for its worldbuilding. It establishes many aspects of Wakandan culture in the MCU, while also providing a powerful moment for the film’s titular hero. Seeing him face a dangerous opponent without powers in order to prove his suitability for the throne elevates the scene beyond a simple fight, but rather a defining moment for Black Panther and for its hero within the MCU.

8

Deadpool Vs The TVA

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Of all the Wolverine variants featured in Deadpool & Wolverine, the first version of the hero shown in the movie is actually the skeletal corpse of Wolverine, following on from his death in 2017’s Logan. The fight scene that follows serves as the movie’s opening sequence, but also one of its most rewatchable scenes. In it, Deadpool is accosted by agents of the TVA, who he dispatches in brutal fashion using the adamantium remains of the late X-Men member.

As well as being perhaps the most brutal and violent fight scene in the MCU, Deadpool fighting the TVA is rewatchable for its comedic value. Set to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye”, it also features the hero engaging in the iconic dance to the song, interspersed among scenes of him brutally killing TVA agents while serving up fourth wall-breaking quips. It’s a scene that’s more than just Deadpool & Wolverine’s opening credits, and more than a simple fight sequence, but rather the emphatic entrance to the MCU for the Merc with a Mouth.

7

Captain America Vs Batroc

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Though it may not be hugely important in the grand scheme of Captain America’s MCU story, the first major fight scene in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier remains one of the franchise’s most overlooked and rewatchable action sequences. After arriving to infiltrate the Lemurian Star, Steve Rogers finds himself engaged in combat with multiple Hydra agents. The most challenging of these is Batroc, with the pair’s fight being an early highlight in the exceptional MCU movie.

Played by renowned MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre, Batroc offers Cap one of his most intense one-on-one fights in the MCU. The choreography of the scene is excellent, and perfectly depicts the brutal but non-lethal fighting style of Captain America in the MCU. It’s a scene that’s every bit as fast-paced and intense as a great fight scene should be, and it’s still hugely rewatchable despite being more than a decade old.

6

The Avengers’ Airport Battle

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Captain America: Civil War featured a number of important moments for the MCU, with Captain America making critical decisions that played a huge part in the narrative direction of the franchise. One of these saw the Avengers split in two, with two factions fighting over the Sokovia Accords. The tension spilled over into a physical battle, taking place at an airport in Germany and featuring the majority of the MCU’s heroes.

The Team Cap versus Team Iron Man battle was as heartbreaking as it was exciting. Seeing the heroes of the MCU pitted against one another over a purely ethical disagreement was something of a painful moment, but also one of the franchise’s best action scenes. Most of the franchise’s heroes were given a chance to play a major role in the battle, making it an especially rewatchable fight scene that hasn’t aged at all.

5

The Battle Of New York

The Avengers (2012)

One of the most defining moments in the history of the MCU came at the end of the franchise’s Phase 1, as it saw the MCU’s heroes finally band together to form the Avengers. Seeing Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye put their differences aside to better fight back against Loki and the Chitauri’s invasion of New York is still one of the MCU’s most epic moments. The battle that followed the formal introduction of the Avengers into the franchise stands out as one of the MCU’s most rewatchable.

The Battle of New York was the first time that the heroes of the MCU were shown fully cooperating with one another. Seeing iconic Marvel heroes working together in live-action to defeat a common enemy remains an incredible cinematic moment, with the high-stakes nature of the battle upping its dramatic tension. Considering its importance to the franchise as well as its individual quality, the Battle of New York remains one of the MCU’s best fight scenes.

4

Cap Vs Bucky

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier features multiple iconic MCU moments, and is widely praised for the quality of its action. The scene in which Captain America first comes face to face with the renowned Hydra assassin known as the Winter Soldier remains one of the MCU’s most incredible action sequences. After doing battle in the streets of Washington DC, Cap learns the shocking truth about the Winter Soldier’s identity.

Not only is it a brilliantly crafted action scene, but it also carries a major emotional significance due to the reveal of Bucky’s survival to Steve Rogers. It’s a huge moment in both characters’ respective stories, and one that comes as the result of an incredibly memorable action sequence. The fight between the Winter Soldier and Captain America remains one of the MCU’s best fight scenes on the basis of its action and drama.

3

The Battle Of Wakanda

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

At the time of Avengers: Infinity War’s release, the movie’s climactic battle in Wakanda was perhaps the MCU’s greatest in terms of scale. The scene takes place at the same time as Thanos fighting the Avengers on Titan, with his amassed forces attacking Earth in Wakanda. The Battle of Wakanda featured the majority of the MCU’s heroes, but that’s far from what makes it the most rewatchable fight scene in the franchise.

The Battle of Wakanda ends with the devastating defeat of the Avengers, and Thanos snapping half of the universe out of existence as a result. As well as being a visual spectacle of the highest order, the Battle of Wakanda carries massive narrative significance to the MCU, even after its plot points have been resolved. The epic scale and emotional weight of the Battle of Wakanda makes it one of the MCU’s most rewatchable and devastating action scenes.

2

The Battle Of Earth

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

For all the devastation caused at the Battle of Wakanda, seeing the remaining Avengers fight back against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame led to one of the MCU’s most rewarding moments. After the battle has seemingly turned against the heroes, the Avengers are able to call in reinforcements in the form of the MCU’s recently revived characters. Pouring in through countless portals, the heroes are able to once again take the fight to Thanos.

The Battle of Earth remains the MCU’s single most significant scene, rounding off the Infinity Saga and also providing an unforgettable ending for one of the franchise’s most iconic heroes. Seeing the Avengers finally defeat Thanos and put the universe back in order alone is triumphant, but the emotional impact of various moments in the action only further elevates the scene. As such, the Battle of Earth is still one of the MCU’s most rewatchable fight scenes.

1

Captain America’s Elevator Scene

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

When it comes to rewatchable fight scenes in the MCU that haven’t aged at all, there are none that even come close to Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s elevator scene. Shortly after learning about Hydra’s infiltration of SHIELD, Steve Rogers finds himself trapped in an elevator with numerous Hydra agents. Seeing no option but to fight his way out, the ensuing fight scene is by far the most popular in the history of the MCU.

The claustrophobic nature of the scene’s setting lends it an added air of tension, especially as the odds were stacked against the hero from the start. Seeing Cap fight off so many attackers all at once in a confined space is a truly epic and unforgettable moment, and one that only seems to get better with age. It’s by far one of the best action scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it simply doesn’t seem to get old no matter how often it’s rewatched.
