5 Best Action Movies Like Kill ‘Em All On Netflix

After watching Jean-Claude Van Damme’s movie, Kill ‘Em All, there are a number of other great Netflix action films to add to your watchlist. Released in 2017, Kill ‘Em All is a classic action thriller which follows a mysterious man named Phillip who enters a hospital with a serious injury. Under the care of a kind nurse named Suzanne, Phillip seems to be getting better. However, his safe haven is quickly disrupted when members of a violent gang arrive to try and kill him. The movie recently earned a sequel, Kill ‘Em All 2, which is now streaming on Netflix.

In many ways, Kill ‘Em All is exactly what audiences might expect when they think about a traditional action movie. There is a legendary action hero in the lead role, Van Damme, a high-stakes situation that will undoubtedly lead to bloodshed, and a central mystery that will keep viewers captivated from start to finish. Because of this, it may seem easy to find another similar action movie on Netflix. Yet, the following five movies are the best projects to watch after Kill ‘Em All because of their shared themes, related premises, and admirable action heroes.

One Netflix movie that action lovers should not miss is Carry-On. This film stars Taron Egerton as Ethan, a TSA agent whose Christmas Eve shift is turned upside down when a stranger blackmails him, threatening to bring a dangerous package onto an upcoming flight. As a result, Ethan must do everything he can to take down this would-be criminal, no matter the consequences to himself or his job.

Carry-On is not only a popular action flick, but it also has heavy ties to Kill ‘Em All. The most obvious connection is the presence of a mysterious stranger. While Kill ‘Em All’s stranger is the protagonist, who audiences are rooting for, Carry-On’s stranger is undoubtedly the villain. Either way, the movies pique viewers’ interest by making them question who these strangers are and what they want. Carry-On boasts an 88% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Once again, The Gray Man relies on this idea of a talented agent who lacks an identity. Just like Kill ‘Em All’s Phillip, the Gray Man is not known for his name or his face, but for the missions he is able to pull off. This makes him an incredibly interesting character, as viewers are eager to figure out who he really is beyond his job. Ultimately, The Gray Man isn’t the highest rated Netflix action movie, but it is sure to keep action fans entertained.

A slightly different type of action thriller from the previous two is Blackout. Released in 2022, the movie focuses on a man who wakes up in a Mexican hospital with no memory of who he is or what he has done. This makes his situation all the more dangerous, as he discovers that various factions of the cartel are chasing him in order to take back something that he unknowingly stole. Blackout stars Josh Duhamel in the lead role.

Blackout is another movie concerned with a mysterious lead character, but an even better connection between it and Kill ‘Em All is its hospital setting. Kill ‘Em All may have all the fixings of a classic action movie, but its hospital setting raises the stakes and puts well-meaning people in danger’s way. The same goes for Blackout. This type of action movie setting is unusual, but it helps make these stories all the more compelling.

If Van Damme is your favorite part of Kill ‘Em All, then a perfect follow-up is the Netflix movie, The Last Mercenary. A French action comedy, the story follows a legendary Secret Service agent named The Mist who is pulled out of retirement and back to France when he discovers that his son who he has never met is in danger. Van Damme is obviously in the lead role.

In the end though, it is another chance to see Van Damme play a highly skilled spy.

The Last Mercenary is a strong pick because it shows Van Damme’s action hero skills, while also adding a bit of fun and humor to the situation. Oftentimes, action movies can feel too heavy or overly serious, so elements of hilarity help make the experience much more exciting. The Last Mercenary is also unique because it is a French film, so it likely feels a bit different from what one would expect from an American action movie. In the end though, it is another chance to see Van Damme play a highly skilled spy.

Finally, the best movie to pick up after Kill ‘Em All is most definitely Kill ‘Em All 2. In this sequel, Phillip and his daughter Vanessa are living peacefully off the grid in Italy. Yet, they are pulled back into the criminal underworld when the brother of one of their targets seeks them out for revenge. Once again, Phillip must fight for his life, but this time, he also has his daughter to worry about.

In general, Kill ‘Em All 2 seems to have all the elements of the first movie. There is danger, mystery, and life-threatening action sequences. On top of that, the stakes are raised for Phillip because of his daughter and his wish for peace and quiet. Overall, Kill ‘Em All 2 is likely as close as one can get to Kill ‘Em All, so it is certainly worth the watch for fans of the 2017 action film.
