Tyler will see someone so badly mistreat that he would understandably generate a lot of hatred within him. Dead Tyler may well be taking out his anger in his belongings. While he could have done the same in any other room, he chose his room because everything inside was his, so he did not want to ruin anything in the house that did not belong to him.

Tyler spends much of the film thinking only of himself and criticizing Chloe and his belief in the ghosts, to disappoint his father, Chris. After Tyler’s comments make Chloe assault Furious, Chris tells his son, “There is an excellent man inside you, Tyler. I would like to meet him soon.” This dialogue hints Tyler’s growth that will experience later in the film.

Surely enough, the story culminates in Tyler fighting Ryan while trying to kill Chloe, showing how much her sister really cares. Unfortunately, Chris can’t see his son’s true colors. He is absent when Tyler obliges himself and Ryan through the window, killing them both in an attempt to protect Chloe, turning Tyler into an invisible spectrum during all the time disturbing his house.

When Chloe realizes the presence in the film, he assumes that he is the spirit of her friend, Nadia, who died of an alleged drug overdose before the film began. This seems to be the case since the presence follows Chloe throughout the house, stocking it from inside his closet. He even cleans Chloe’s room while he is in the shower, showing his great interest in it and insinuating his love bond.

Someone like Nadia, who had a close relationship with Chloe, understandably would like to be close to them again. On the other hand, it is so likely that one of Chloe’s family members is so attached to her, even as a ghost. Tyler is distant towards Chloe during most of the film while he is alive, but that only makes his turn the even more shocking presence.

While the presence looks at Chloe during most of the film, when he sees her having sex with Ryan, looks the other way as if it were uncomfortable to see this. Such a view would be especially difficult to observe one of Chloe’s family members. As Tyler is Chloe’s brother, it is understandable that his spirit does not want to see this in Presence.

Specifically, Tyler’s spirit hits a shelf in Chloe’s room just when she and Ryan are about to intimidate for the first time, interrupting their romantic encounter.

Similarly, just when Ryan shows his true intentions in the film, the presence shows that he is actually trying to protect Chloe from him. The ghost spills the drugged drink that Ryan tries to give Chloe when he tries to kill her for the first time.
