Following his collaboration with Drake on Her Loss in 2022, 21 Savage hinted at a solo project during his July 2023 tour. Prior to the release, hints were made on social media and promotional billboards. In addition to the album release, 21 Savage also announced a biographical film, American Dreams: The 21 Savage Story, starring himself, Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin, which will be released on Independence Day. The album explores 21 Savage’s journey and showcases his growth as an artist in the nearly five years since his last solo project, I Am > I Was in 2018.

Who is 21 Savage?

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (born October 22, 1992) is a rapper better known by his stage name 21 Savage. He was born in London but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2013, he began his musical journey, gaining local acclaim with three self-released mixtapes. In 2016, he had a major breakthrough with the release of the EP “Savage Mode” in collaboration with record producer Metro Boomin, which peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The EP’s lead singles, “X” (featuring Future) and “No Heart”, both reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year, he gained further recognition for his guest appearance on Drake’s single “Sneakin'”. Following this success, 21 Savage signed a record deal with Epic Records in January 2017.
