Amy Elizabeth Macdonald was born on 25 August 1987 and spent her formative years at Bishopbriggs High School in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Her musical journey began in 2000 when she was inspired by Travis at the T in the Park Music Festival, and was particularly moved by their song “Turn”. And drive yourself to play. In 2007, Amy Elizabeth Macdonald released her debut album This Is the Life, which launched singles such as “Mr. Rock & Roll” and the song of the same name “This “Is the Life”. The latter soared to number one in six countries and cracked the top ten in a further 11 countries. The album gained huge popularity, topping the charts in four European countries including the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland, and selling three million copies worldwide. Following this success, she also gained some recognition in the United States. Entering the music scene in 2008 marked the beginning of her international journey.
Her second studio album, A Curious Thing, was released in 2010. Its lead single “Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over” peaked at No. 45 on the UK Singles Chart and reached the top ten in several European regions. That same year, Macdonald collaborated with Ray Davies on his album See My Friends and performed a cover of the Kinks’ 1960s hit “Dead End Street.” Continuing her musical journey, her third studio album, Life in a Beautiful Light, debuted in 2012. The album featured three singles: “Slow It Down,” “Pride” and “4th of July,” marking her progressive musical repertoire.
