Armored Core 6: Breaking the Karman Line

Breaking the Karman Line is a key main mission in Armored Core 6, located exclusively in Chapter 5 of the same name. This mission plays an important role in the game and requires a walkthrough to ensure successful completion. In this mission, a unique feature appears – your energy remains maxed out throughout the airborne battle, eliminating the worry of running out of energy.

The main objectives revolve around engaging and destroying fleet ships. Your mission is to target and destroy every fleet ship that comes into view. Once this stage is over, a boss battle will ensue against Rusty. It’s worth noting that after you defeat Rusty for the first time, he only has about two-thirds of his health remaining.

The climax of the mission unfolds through engaging cutscenes that seamlessly blend action and narrative. The final objective log includes destroying a fleet of arquebus interceptors and then annihilating the interceptor fleet in a designated area. The final task is to defeat Rusty, which is a difficult challenge in the game.

Completing this arduous task will reward us with 470,000 COA, marking a commendable achievement in the Armored Core 6 universe. Intricate mission details, evolving challenges, and dynamic rewards combine to create an immersive and engaging gaming experience in Armored Core 6: Beyond the Karman Line.

Armored Core 6 gameplay

Armored Core VI places a heavy emphasis on immersive mech-based vehicle combat gameplay. Players assume the role of a skilled pilot and control a powerful mecha called “Armored Core”. The standout feature of the game is the extensive customization potential of these mechs, which is achieved by merging different parts to enhance their abilities.

The highlight of the game is the extraordinary array of weapons that players can equip their mechs with. The mech provides designated weapon slots, including two on the back and one on each arm. This versatile weaponry provides players with strategic flexibility, allowing them to tailor their approach to combat situations.

Armored Core VI retains a key feature from its predecessor, the introduction of the “Combat Capability Assessment Procedure,” which essentially embodies the arena concept. In this mode, players can measure and demonstrate their skills by competing against other players. Successful completion of missions rewards players with points (the in-game currency). Points earned depend on goals completed during the mission, and unfinished goals may also be deducted.

Notably, Armored Core VI eliminates the debt system present in earlier entries in the series. This elimination allows players to retry missions without the financial setback of failure. This change in gameplay fosters a drive for continuous improvement and heightened expectations, as players strive to improve their performance without fear of looming financial consequences.

Armored Core 6 plot

“Armored Core VI” unfolds in a future scenario where humans thrive in the stars. The scenario centers on Rubicon 3, an outpost world rich in coral, a multifunctional substance that serves as an energy and data conduit. Coral was originally hailed as a catalyst for progress, but unfortunately sparked the “Crested Ibis Fire”, engulfing the planet in flames and leaving a deadly residue.

Although it was believed to have been eradicated, traces of the coral have reappeared fifty years later, attracting companies eager to exploit it, regardless of its harm to local people. This prompted mercenaries to descend from the mountains for profit amid the chaos. Players take on the role of “C4-621,” an enhanced character bound to Walter, the controller. They pilot the Armored Core, mercenaries seeking a new beginning by taking up jobs. As “Raven”, they take on new identities and embark on Rubicon 3 to explore a world ravaged by Coral’s legacy.

Armored Core 6 Development

In September 2016, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that a new Armored Core game would be in the works. By January 2022, following focus testing, details of potential installments were leaked. The news was officially announced at the 2022 Game Awards in December, revealing the development of Armored Core VI. Masaru Yamamura, who served as lead game designer on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, takes over as director, replacing Hayao Miyazaki, who originally led the project.

Yasunori Ogura is the producer, and he emphasized the team’s eagerness to create new Armored Core titles, pending the right allocation of resources. Prototyping for the game began in 2018, and once the foundation of the gameplay was solid, Yamamura took over the reins. Kota Hoshino led the game’s composition, creating music that resonates with “a sense of loneliness and nostalgia” based on keywords provided by Yamamura. Shoi Miyazawa and Takashi Onodera also contributed to the soundtrack.
