Barry Gibb was born on September 1, 1946, in the Isle of Man, the third child of Hugh and Barbara Gibb. Unfortunately, he lost his sister and brother in infancy. He also has twin brothers Robin and Maurice, and a younger brother Andy.

Barry grew up around music, his father, a band director, exposing him to music from an early age. In 1955, at the age of 9, he formed his first band, The Rattlesnakes, with his twin brothers. Together they became one of the leading figures in pop music in the 1970s.

Barry and his wife Linda have five children: Stephen (1973), Ashley (1977), Travis (1981), Michael (1984) and Alexandra (1991)
