As opening night approaches, Nina begins to experience vivid hallucinations and delusions. Her overbearing mother forces her to be perfect, while the company’s overbearing supervisor makes unwanted sexual advances toward her. One night after taking ecstasy, Nina has sex with Lily, further unravelling her tenuous grasp on reality.
On opening night, Nina has a complete breakdown backstage. In a state of psychosis, she stabs her own reflection, thinking she has killed Lily.
