Callisto Protocol Final Transmission Ending and Review

Callisto Protocol Wiki

Developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton, The Callisto Protocol is an immersive survival horror game first launched in 2022.

Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto, the game follows Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel) as he confronts infected prisoners with a mysterious disease and uncovers the dark secrets of a prison facility. Players explore different levels, scavenge for resources and fight infected prisoners.

Development of the game began at Striking Distance Studios, which was established in June 2019. What was originally conceived as a project within the PUBG universe eventually transformed into a unique intellectual property that has forged its own unique identity.

On December 2, 2022, the Callisto Protocol was released for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Although the game was released, it received mixed reviews and did not meet Crafton’s sales expectations.

Callisto protocol final transmission ends

Much of Callisto Protocol’s convoluted narrative is saved for the finale, which presents many unanswered questions and mysterious details, leaving players in a state of uncertainty. The game’s ending leaves them more confused than when they first entered the Black Iron Prison, leading to speculation about the future direction of the story.

Callisto Protocol offers a season pass option, giving players access to the upcoming story DLC, scheduled for release in summer 2023. However, it’s currently unclear whether the expansion will explain the mysteries introduced in the game’s main storyline. . Given the game’s tendency to withhold information, DLC will likely follow suit, keeping players in suspense until a potential sequel resolves unresolved plot points.

Nonetheless, some inferences can be drawn from the limited details provided by the Callisto Accords. At the end of The Callisto Accords, Jacob decided to stay in the Black Iron Prison, believing his actions deserved punishment, while Danny escaped.

Jacob discovers a hidden biophage tank on his ship, but chooses not to inquire further, prioritizing getting the job done and getting paid, regardless of the lives of countless people on Europa and Callisto, including Danny’s sister. However, he does provide Danny with a jar of biophage pathogens as evidence to uncover the truth behind the outbreak. This choice could have dire consequences, especially when Warden Cole’s secret organization becomes involved.

The final confrontation reveals more about Warden Cole’s organization, Calipolis. They initiated research into alien phage pathogens, using Callisto and Europa as testing grounds to capture and study those who survived the infection. The survivors of Europa are known as Subject Zero, while the survivor of Callisto, Captain Ferris, represents the more evolved Subject Alpha.

Kallipolis’ goal is to use these survivors to synthesize a formula that will accelerate human evolution, allowing humanity to withstand the dangerous conditions of other planets and venture further into the galaxy.

The experiments at Kallipolis extend beyond Callisto, and Warden Cole hints at the next phase of the protocol. This suggests they intend to foment more biophage outbreaks until a viable evolutionary formula is created.

It’s likely that a colony was established in Kallipolis as an additional testing ground, and the sample Jacob gave Danny could be the source of another outbreak. It is speculated that Danny intends to transport it to a place beyond the control of the UJC and Kallipolis, possibly Earth.

Without proper precautions, this outbreak could be even more terrifying than the Black Iron event described in the Callisto Protocol. Unfortunately, the DLC likely won’t address the aftermath, leaving fans eagerly anticipating further reveals of the sequel.

In 2320, Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel) and Max Barrow (Jeff Schenn) work as contract freighters for the United Jupiter Corporation (UJC). After their final transport from Europa to the Black Iron prison on Callisto, their ship Charon is hijacked by the Outer Path, a terrorist group believed to be behind a devastating biological attack on Europa. The spacecraft crashes on Callisto, killing Max, leaving Jacob and Alien Path leader Danny Nakamura (Karen Fukuhara) as the only survivors.

They are captured by Captain Leon Ferris (Sam Witwer) and imprisoned on the orders of Warden Duncan Cole (James C. Mathis III). However, the prison is overrun with infected prisoners known as “biophages,” and Jacob forms an alliance with prisoner Elias Porter (Zeck Alton) to find an escape route. They encounter Special Housing Unit (SHU) hacker Dani, but she initially refuses to join their escape plan.

As Jacob and Elias made their way to the hangar, they were attacked by an infected Ferris and thrown onto Callisto’s surface. Elias is mortally wounded and Danny saves them with his car. She restores Elias’ memory, and together they work to survive as the biophage becomes more dangerous. While searching for evidence of illegal bioweapons smuggling by the UJC, Jacob and Danny summoned a ship in the hangar.

However, Cole intervenes and destroys the ship, preventing their escape. With their plan ruined, Jacob and Danny decide to confront Cole and explore the ruins of Callisto’s original colony, Arcas.

In Arkas, they discover a laboratory containing a deceased creature unearthed by the original miners. Biophages originate from larvae found in this organism, and UJC conducted experiments on humans to speed evolution. Subject Zero was an intelligent survivor of the Arcas outbreak, destroyed by the UJC.

After another confrontation with Ferris, Danny becomes infected. Jacob is captured and imprisoned by security robots, but is later freed by prison doctor Dr. Caitlin Mahler (Louise Barnes). Mahler reveals that Cole is a member of a religious organization called Commonality, which is dedicated to promoting human evolution. She reveals Cole’s plan to use Jacob and the alien infection to create an Alpha subject, and tells Jacob that Danny can be cured by extracting Alpha’s DNA.

As Jacob investigates further, he discovers that he was involved in the UJC operation because he knew about larval smuggling but ignored it for personal gain. He confronts Cole, who releases a mutated Ferris (now Alpha) to stop Jacob. However, Jacob defeated Ferris and extracted his DNA.

Cole urges Jacob to hand over the DNA for the sake of humanity’s survival, but Jacob instead uses it to heal Danny. Enraged, Cole initiated the prison’s self-destruct sequence, claiming to have collected enough data for the Callisto Protocol. Jacob puts Dani in the escape pod along with the alien larvae sample, providing her with evidence to expose the UJC experiment. With the self-destruction temporarily postponed, Mahler contacts Jacob for a chance to escape, but before he can reach safety, he is attacked by Ferris.

As a thrilling story unfolds, The Callisto Protocol takes players on a suspenseful journey filled with intrigue, bioterrorism, and a battle for survival against powerful forces. The game’s intricate plot, interesting characters, and intense gameplay make it a captivating experience for fans of the survival horror genre.
