10 “What do you see when you look at me?” – The Equalizer
The equalizer McCall is nothing if not a patient man, who tends to give his enemies a chance to do the right thing before starting to equalize. One of the best scenes in the series occurs in the original and sees McCall heading to a restaurant where a Russian mafia thug is enjoying a nice dinner. McCall warns the cruel Teddy (Marton Csokas) to stop chasing him, before launching into a monologue about a story he had heard about a troubled Russian orphan.
This child was adopted by a famous scholar and despite being considered a lost cause, this man did everything he could to make the child feel wanted and loved. This man and his wife were later murdered under mysterious circumstances, and McCall believed the boy was responsible because he feared being loved. While the subtext of McCall’s story is not subtle, Washington does an incredible job with this monologue and underlines that, as bad as Teddy thinks he is, McCall is capable of much worse.
9 McCall Nails Them: The Equalizer
The Equalizer begins with a retired McCall working at the fictional Home Mart hardware store, so when he needs a place to ambush Teddy and his goons, that’s the battlefield he selects. What follows is an elegant and inventive style. Home alone-Style sequence, where McCall takes down the henchmen one by one, before using a nail gun to dispatch Teddy. Washington has little dialogue during this finale and transforms the normally affable McCall into the walking embodiment of death.
8 “100 Books” – The Equalizer
A subplot of the first film shows McCall reading a list of 100 books, which his wife was working on before she died. When he can’t sleep, he goes to an all-night restaurant to read, and that’s where he befriends Teri/Alina (Moretz), a teenage prostitute for the Russian mafia.

In this scene, the two bond as he explains his book plan and she talks about wanting to become a singer. It’s a sweet scene that explains why McCall was willing to go to war with the mob when Alina is later beaten and hospitalized.
7 Timeout: The Equalizer
The first big action sequence of The Equalizer It involves McCall approaching the Russian mafia and offering to buy Alina’s freedom, following her beating. Naturally, they insult him and reject the offer, so McCall resorts to Plan B. Having mentally planned out the various improvised weapons he could use (a corkscrew, a glass, etc.), he times it while casually killing everyone in the room. with lethal weapons. precision. While it took about 12 seconds longer than expected, the results speak for themselves.
6 Spill the Tea – The Equalizer 2
“There are two types of pain in the world, the pain that hurts… and the pain that alters.” That’s the message McCall gives a girl’s abusive father when he travels to Istanbul to get the girl back. The equalizer 2 It begins with this scene, where McCall confronts the man for taking the girl from her mother as punishment. He then kills the father’s henchmen when they attack, but still gives the man a chance to live if he does the right thing; In a very sensible gesture, he returns the child to his mother.
5 The Hurricane – The Equalizer 2
Possibly the best scenario in the series takes place during The equalizer 2 finale, where McCall takes his traitorous former partner and friend York (Pedro Pascal) to his old hometown for more equalization. The twist is that a full-blown hurricane is happening around him, which creates a particular dynamic ending in which McCall once again makes use of his surroundings.
4 “Why not you?” – The equalizer 2
A subplot in the second. Equalizer McCall befriends a teenager named Miles (Ashton Sanders), who is an aspiring artist. McCall becomes a mentor of sorts to the boy, so when he realizes that a local gang has taken Miles and wants him to commit an initiation murder, he intervenes.

He storms the apartment building, takes Miles out at gunpoint, and angrily confronts him because he wants to be a killer. McCall also berates Miles for his naivety and yells that he is too young to know what death is. Naturally, he wins over Miles, who, however, is confused as to why McCall would go to such lengths for him. “Why not you?” is McCall’s response.
3 “9 seconds” – The equalizer 3
The equalizer 3 begins with the franchise’s trademark of McCall silently menacing before synchronizing himself by killing everyone. The third film begins with McCall having committed an off-screen massacre in an Italian mafia stronghold before the boss and his men confront him. Even by the standards of previous films, McCall is particularly brutal here, torturing his target a bit with non-fatal gunshot wounds before dealing the killing blow. Denzel is at his menacing best in this sequence, indicating that McCall is in a much darker headspace in part three.
2 The median nerve – The equalizer 3
Being quietly menacing in a restaurant is another curious staple of the franchise, and one that the third entry revisits. When mafia thug Marco (Andrea Dodero) intimidates the locals, he looks up and sees McCall staring at him. Marco sits next to him and begins to threaten him when McCall grabs his hand and presses the “middle nerve“, causing Marco intense agony. McCall also states that if he presses the nerve hard enough, Marco could commit a violation, and politely asks Marco and his men to move to another city to do their business. He doesn’t. they do, and bloodshed ensues.
1 “Take Me” – The Equalizer 3
After killing Marco, his considerably more aggressive brother Vincent (Andrea Scarduzio) arrives in town and threatens the locals with handing over the man responsible. Having no other option, McCall turns himself in and his only request is to be killed somewhere else. Vincent won’t even honor that and plans to shoot McCall in front of everyone as a warning against future challenges. McCall manages to get out of this jam, but it is one of McCall’s most emotional scenes in The Equalizer series, as he bares his soul and is willing to die to save his new friends.
