Destiny 2 Update 2.99 Patch Notes For August 29, 2023

Destiny 2 Update 2.99

Bungie has launched the 2.99 update for Destiny 2, corresponding to patch version 7.2.0.2. This version makes various adjustments to cauldrons, weapons, and more. In response to community feedback over the past week, Destiny 2’s Season of the Witch has received an initial post-launch patch from Bungie. In addition to resolving several reported issues, this update will also provide a temporary solution to the loading system, which has been out of order since the start of Season 22.

However, it’s worth noting that Loadouts may not regain full functionality even with this update, as Bungie has said it will implement a permanent fix at a later date. On top of this, many other enhancements have been made to enhance the overall Season of the Witch experience, making it even smoother compared to launch week. Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online first-person shooter developed by Bungie. It originally launched as a paid game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in 2017, and transitioned to a free-to-play model on October 1, 2019, called “New Light.”

In the following months, it expanded to platforms such as Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Bungie acquired the publishing rights from Activision in 2018. The game is the sequel to the 2014 game Destiny.

“Destiny 2” is set in a fantasy science fiction world and provides a multiplayer shared world environment with role-playing game elements. Gameplay is divided into player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) activities. PvE includes story missions, three-player “Strikes,” dungeons, and six-player raids. The Discovery Zone emphasizes public events and non-player character (NPC) interactions. PvP offers an objective-based deathmatch mode.

Players become Guardians, defenders of Earth’s last city, using the power of light to stop an alien race and the looming darkness. Extensions enhance the story and content. The first year saw the release of small expansion packs such as Curse of Osiris and Warmind. The following year brought Forsaken’s major expansion pack, which changed the gameplay.

Then, in its third year, Shadowkeep launched as a standalone version that didn’t require prior ownership of premium content. Year Four saw the release of the Faster Than Light expansion, which reshaped the game by placing older content into the Destiny content library. It marked the dawn of a new era, leading to 2022’s The Witch Queen, 2023’s Fall of Light, and Final Form, concluding the “saga of light and darkness.”

Crucially, Destiny 2 has been critically acclaimed for its improved storytelling, gameplay, visuals, exploration, multiplayer, and events. Opinions vary on the weapon changes, Leviathan raids, and new modes. The game won awards at events such as the 2017 Game Awards and the Game Critics Awards.
