“Final Fantasy XIV” is a Windows online game released by Square Enix in 2010. This is a multiplayer role-playing game set in the fantasy world of Eorzea. In the game, players control their character to explore the land while dealing with threats from the Garlean Empire and powerful primitive creatures. The story involves a plan to land one of the satellites on Eorzea.
The game’s development ran into trouble, facing issues that affected its quality. It initially received negative reviews due to gameplay, interface issues, and an overall feeling of incompleteness. Square Enix decided to suspend subscription fees, delay the PlayStation 3 version, and change the development team. The original version of Final Fantasy XIV was eventually shut down in 2012.

In Final Fantasy XIV, players assume the role of a customized adventurer avatar belonging to one of the game’s five races. Players can choose various aspects of their avatar, such as eye and hair color, facial features, and skin tone. The chosen tribe and patronus affect the character’s statistics and elemental attributes. The game features story missions, which are unlocked as characters gain experience points (EXP) and level up, as well as Levequests, side quests accessible through the Adventurer’s Guild that focus on collecting or combat.

Unlike its predecessor, Final Fantasy XI, which emphasized party-based gameplay, Final Fantasy XIV allows players to play for longer periods of time without joining a party. Every action requires manual input, and there are no auto-attack options. The game uses a stamina bar, and players gain experience points by defeating monsters, crafting items, and completing tasks. The armory system determines the character’s occupation based on the equipped weapons or crafting tools, allowing players to switch characters at will. The curriculum is divided into four disciplines: War Disciple, Magic Disciple, Hand Disciple and Earth Disciple.

In the game’s storyline, the player character begins in one of Eorzea’s three main states and gains an Echo, a power that allows them to witness past events. The adventurers become embroiled in the nation’s internal conflict caused by the presence of the Garlean, led by Legatus Gaius van Baltha, and the orcs’ attempts to collect crystals and summon primal creatures. When Sarlayan scholar Louisois Levelle revealed that Garlean Legatus Nair van Danus planned to summon Eorzea’s second moon, Dalamud, to rid it of orcs and primitive creatures At this time, a more significant threat emerged. With the help of Garlean defector Cid Nan Garlond, the adventurers found a beacon in New Castle that summoned Dalamud.
Despite the attempts of individual nations, they formed the Eorzean Alliance and united against the Garlean armies. Together they attack New Castle and destroy the lighthouse, but Nair transforms himself into a second lighthouse. Although the Adventurers defeated Nair, Daramud fell too far to return to orbit. Louisois came up with a desperate plan to summon the Twelve, patron saints of Eorzea, to bring Dalamud back into orbit. Adventurers prayed at the Twelve Altars and joined the Eorzean Alliance to fight Nair’s armies in the plains of Katno. However, Dalamud disintegrated during the battle, revealing that it imprisoned the older, original Bahamut. Enraged, Bahamut wreaked havoc on Eorzea. After failing to summon the Twelve, Louisoir sacrificed his power and sent the adventurers into a temporal rift, separating them from time until Eorzea could be restored.
