Golden Melody Awards 2023, Nominees, Winners List

2023 Golden Melody Awards

The Golden Melody Awards (GMA) are a prestigious honor presented by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture to recognize outstanding achievements in the Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka and Taiwanese language pop and traditional music industries. Similar to the Grammy Awards in the Chinese-speaking world, the GMAs are awarded based on the votes of the jury members.

These awards join other respected awards such as the TV Golden Bell Awards and the film Golden Horse Awards to gain significant recognition in the music industry. The first Golden Melody Awards were held on January 6, 1990 to commend performers for their outstanding contributions in pop music creation.

After the 1996 awards ceremony, the Ministry of Culture reorganized several award categories for 1997, dividing the awards into the Popular Music Awards and the Traditional Music Awards. Subsequently, in 2007, the two awards ceremonies became separate events. It is worth noting that since 2014, the Traditional Music Golden Melody Award has been awarded by the National Center for Traditional Arts, another department of the Ministry of Culture.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 31st and 32nd awards ceremonies have been postponed to October 2020 and August 2021 respectively. However, after being held in Kaohsiung for the first time since the 16th edition, the 33rd edition will return at the Kaohsiung Arena in Kaohsiung City on July 2, 2022.

The 2023 Golden Melody Awards is a grand event honoring outstanding achievements in Taiwan’s music industry. The awards ceremony was held on July 1 at the Taipei Arena to honor outstanding talents and their contributions in various categories.
