The critically acclaimed fighting video game debuted on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows on June 11, 2021, before being released in Japanese arcades on July 29, 2021.

The game was released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on March 7, 2023, further expanding the player base. The game received widespread acclaim, with critics praising its superior visuals, engaging gameplay, and powerful netcode.

Guilty Gear Strive has been a huge success, selling over 2.5 million copies as of August 2023, cementing its place as a beloved and influential title in the world of fighting games.

Guilty Gear Endeavor gameplay

Guilty Gear Strive represents a significant evolution for the series while retaining its core characteristics. This installment is considered a “complete rebuild of the franchise,” introducing some substantial changes and innovations.

Notably, it improves on many features and mechanics, although it departs from tradition by eliminating the iconic “instant kill” mechanic. Instead, it introduces a “wall-breaking” feature that allows for phase transitions when executing combos in the corners of the arena, enhancing the dynamics of combat.

In addition to gameplay tweaks, the game’s narrative builds upon the events of Guilty Gear Xrd, with a specific focus on Sol Badguy’s story, often referred to as the “Gear Hunters Saga.”

Set in Washington, D.C., and serving as the backdrop for Sol Badguy’s final confrontation with the mysterious key character That Man (also known as Asuka R. Kreutz), this final chapter promises a compelling narrative experience to complement its gameplay Innovation.
