Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (born 5 May 1983) is an acclaimed English actor known for his various roles in film and television. Cavill began his acting career with roles in film adaptations such as The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) and I Conquered the Castle (2003).
He further cemented his place in the entertainment industry with supporting roles in television series such as BBC’s Inspector Lynley (2002) and ITV’s Murder Case (2003). As his career progressed, Cavill expanded his filmography, with roles in Tristan und Isolde (2006), Stardust (2007) and God of War (2011).

- Henry Cavill began his film career with roles in Laguna (2001) and Kevin Reynolds’ adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo (2002).

- Henry William Dalglish Cavell was born in St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands on 5 May 1983. He was the fourth of five boys in a Roman Catholic family.
- His mother, Marianne Dalgliesh, was born in Jersey and is of Scottish, English, and Irish descent.
- She worked as a secretary in a bank. His father, Colin Cavell, was a stockbroker from Chester, England.
- Cavell attended St Michael’s Preparatory School in St Saviour, Jersey, before continuing his education at Stowe School in Stowe, Buckinghamshire.
- While attending Stowe School, Cavell was active in sports and drama.
- In 1999, he played a member of the band T-Birds in the school production of Grease and played the lead role in a production of Dogg’s Hamlet created by his own Grafton College for the school’s drama festival
- His sporting involvement included playing hockey for the First XI and rugby for the Thirty-Five.
- In 2000, when Cavill was 16, he met actor Russell Crowe by chance while playing rugby. Crowe was in Stowe filming the movie Proof of Life.
