Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in the spotlight
With these new allegations, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has once again come under the spotlight. SEBI was established on April 12, 1988, with an initial mandate to develop and supervise the securities and commodity markets in the country. Over the years, under the leadership of several dynamic personalities, SEBI has evolved from a simple enforcement agency to a powerful regulator with legal clout.
Hindenburg working model
Hindenburg Research is a small US company founded by Nathan Anderson in 2017. The company uses financial investigations to uncover problems at large companies.
Hindenburg has previously looked at companies including Nikola, Clover Health, Block Inc, Kandi and Lordstown Motors.
Their approach was simple: They released reports to their clients before the public saw them. The clients then used this information to short the stocks of these companies. When the stock price fell after the report was released, both Hindenburg and its clients made money.
