Gilgamesh often introduces an element of randomness, especially as a summon, using a variety of weapons to attack, including the unreliable Excalipoor. While powerful when used with the right weapon, if he happens to use Excalipoor, the summon is completely ineffective.
This randomness adds a unique dimension to encounters with Gilgamesh, making him both a powerful ally and a wild card in combat. Despite his hostility, Gilgamesh is not inherently evil.
When the party had weapons he desired, conflicts often arose, leading to a hunt for him. In his view, Gilgamesh was a duelist seeking honorable combat, challenging his opponents to a fight for their weapons.
If defeated, he will concede defeat gracefully, and may even consider the party as friends who will come to his aid later. His exaggerated and boisterous demeanor, combined with his pride, clumsiness, and penchant for the dramatic, creates a multifaceted character in the Final Fantasy world.
