The Shadow Tower is located directly north of the Belurat Tower settlement. Players need to go through the town and defeat the mythical beast, the Dancing Lion, to reach the entrance to the Shadow Tower.

However, the entrance is blocked by black branches, preventing the player from entering. This location is actually the final area of the expansion, where the Enir-Ilim Legacy dungeon is located, and is where Miquella travels to.
While players can reach the Shadow Tower very early on, they do not actually need to defeat the Divine Beast Dancing Lion to enter. Instead, it is a multi-step process.

Since Shadowlands is the last area of the expansion pack, it means that players must follow the game’s story to enter this area. Although Shadowlands is very large, there are fewer bosses to defeat to get to the end compared to the base version of Elden Ring. Here is the basic process of entering Shadowlands (Enir-Ilim):
- Defeat the Twin Moon Knight Rellana in Ensis Castle to enter Scadu Atlas. In addition, there is a path around the castle that leads to the back of Fort of Repelland by following the lower path east of the Ruined Forge Lava Intake Site of Grace.
- Defeat Mesmer the Impaler in Shadowkeep to obtain Mesmer’s Firestarter. Players can either enter directly and fight the Golden Hippo boss, or follow the cave east to the Swamp Ruins and skip the fight with the hippo.
- Defeat the Bud Saint Romina at the Bud Church in the southwest of the Lao Ancient Ruins area.
- After the battle, use Mesmer’s Firestarter to burn the church tree, then teleport to Inil-Ilium. This will skip the fight with the Divine Beasts, and the player can interact with the Ruins of the Rising Grace in the Tower of Shadows.
