Polly in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
In Pokémon Crimson and Violet’s Cyan Mask DLC, the old-school Pokémon from the first generation, Waves, returns along with other beloved creatures. This little guy has two growth paths: he can evolve into Politoed or Poliwrath, each evolving in its own way.
If your goal is to be Politoed, you must do two things to achieve it. It’s more of a process. But if you’re leaning toward Poliwrath, it’s even simpler—it can be done in just one step. It’s great to see Poliwhirl back in action, especially with these different evolving options. So whether your goal is Politoed the Frog or Poliwrath the Fighter, there’s always a way to achieve it. The Cyan Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet offers fans the opportunity to reunite with these classics and explore their different evolutionary paths.

How does Pidgey evolve in Pokemon Red and Violet?
In Pokémon Crimson and Violet, evolving Polyspins can take different paths leading to Politod or Polyvas. Here’s how to achieve both evolutions:
Evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed:
-
Get the King’s Stone:
This particular item is a must-have. You can find it in the game world, but the easiest way is to buy it from Delibird Presents. Unfortunately, there’s no Delibird store up north, so you’ll need to head to a larger city like Mesagosa and buy it for 10,000 Magic Coins.
-
Equip Polly Cyclone:
Have Bolivier grab the King’s Stone. This is done in the Items section of the Pokémon menu.
-
Transaction process:
Once Bolivier has obtained the King’s Stone, it can be traded with other players. The deal itself sparked the evolution of Poliwhirl into Politoed. It’s a good idea to trade with someone who can help populate your Pokédex or arrange a quick trade.
Evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath:
-
Get water stone:

Poliwrath requires this particular evolution item. You can find Water Stones in a number of ways in the game, but purchasing them from Delibird Presents for 3,000 Magic Coins is the easiest way. Again, there are no Delibird stores up north, so head back to larger cities like Paldea to purchase.
-
To use water stone:
Apply the water stone directly to the Poliwhirl. No additional steps are required. It will instantly evolve into Poliwrath, which can happen at any level.
Keep in mind that the process of Politoed involves trading, and evolving to Poliwrath only requires using the Water Stone directly on Poliwhirl. Make sure to plan your actions based on your preferences and the resources available in the game!

Pokemon scarlet and violet
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are games launching in 2022 on Nintendo Switch. They are the first of the ninth set of Pokémon games. These games are different because they take place in a region called Pardia, which, like the Iberian Peninsula, has a large open world.
In these games, players can complete three different stories. Scarlet and Violet showcased 110 new Pokémon, including two new varieties unique to the region, as well as some special Pokémon called Paradox Pokémon. They also have something called Terastal, which turns Pokémon into a special “Tera Type”.
The games received some mixed feedback from experts. Some people like the open world and story, but others don’t like the look of the game or some of the issues it had when it first launched. Even so, they sold a lot, like over 23 million copies, by September 2023. So while they’ve received some criticism, many people still really like them and think they bring something new to the Pokémon games.

In Pokémon Crimson and Violet, the gameplay follows the pattern we’re used to of catching Pokémon, exploring, and fighting trainers. But there’s a cool new twist! Players can now choose if they want to fight trainers on special paths. Unlike older Pokémon games, these games feature vast open worlds where cities and wilderness are mixed together with no clear borders between each other.
You can choose your own path and do things in any order you like, which is pretty neat. There are 112 new Pokémon in these games, including newcomers like Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, as well as two legendary Pokémon, Koraidon and Miraidon, that can help you travel around. They also gave some Pokémon new forms, such as Paradox Pokémon and “Convergent Evolution” Pokémon, which look like other Pokémon but are completely different.
You can even have your Pokémon roam the world and automatically battle other wild Pokémon! Plus, you can team up with three friends for cooperative play. One super cool thing is the Terastal thing, which makes Pokémon look crystal-like and change their type. It’s like they got special moves to match their new types, which is awesome.
