How to Fast Travel in The First Descendant

The First Descendant is a large world with multiple regions and a central island. You’ll frequently be jumping from region to region depending on your quest, and the quest tracker can be confusing if you’re not in the right region. Luckily, you can teleport from one place to another, and here’s how to fast travel in The First Descendant.

How to use fast travel in The First Descendant

Outpost Fast Travel Point First Descendant

Fast travel is essential for moving from one area to another. Technically, you cannot move to other areas without using the fast travel feature. To fast travel, press M or the up key on the directional pad to open the map. There are different buttons to open the map, such as G, the look button, or the touchpad, so you can familiarize yourself with our control guide for all platforms.

Look for a green circular icon, which is an Outpost. Press and hold the interact button on it to fast travel to that location.

In The First Descendant, you can only fast travel to outposts and temporary safe zones, but if you reach a certain part of the story, they will automatically unlock. For example, you will start your journey in the Kingston area. The area has three areas: Fallen Theater, Ruin, and the Grand Plaza. If you complete the main quest in Ruin, it will lead to another area, such as the Fallen Theater.

Once you start that quest, the outpost will unlock and you will have to fast travel to that outpost to get to that area. If you’ve completed the entire Kingston region, your main quest may take you back to Albion or a completely different region. If your main quest is in a different region, it will not appear in your current region and you will have to open the map to fast travel.

Here are some fast travel tips you should know:

  • You can even fast travel between missions if you’re not in combat.
  • A quest may take you to another accessible area, but it’s always a good idea to check for new unlocked fast travel points or outposts. Saving travel time means leveling up faster!
  • When you fast travel, all the items you loot will still remain with you.
  • You cannot fast travel to void missions, battlefield missions, and other points of interest.
