How to Fix the Zenless Zone Zero Unity Crash on Intel GPUs

Zenless Zone Zero is miHoYo’s latest free-to-play action role-playing game, set in urban fantasy instead of traditional fantasy and sci-fi. The PC version runs similarly to miHoYo’s previous releases Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3, but since it uses the same engine, it has some common technical issues. If you keep encountering Unity-related crashes when trying to play Zenless Zone Zero with an Intel GPU, you can follow the steps below to fix it.

Fixed Zenless Zone Zero Unity crash on Intel GPUs

To fix Unity crashing when playing Zenless Zone Zero if you have an Intel GPU, you need to add a launch command to its executable to force the game to use DirectX 12.

You can do this easily by following the steps below:

  • First, go to the location where Zenless Zone Zero is installed, or right-click the shortcut and select Open file location (ZenlessZoneZero game folder)
  • Find the ZenlessZoneZero executable file and right-click it

  • Select the “Create Shortcut” option
  • Now, right-click on the shortcut and select Properties
  • Add -force-d3d12 at the end of the target text

  • (Make sure to add a space before -force-d3d12 as shown above)
  • Currently, use shortcuts to play games instead of the launcher

Several users with Intel GPUs have confirmed that using this command is the only real way to resolve the issue.

Update GPU Driver

If that doesn’t work, make sure you have the latest Intel GPU drivers too. This is especially important if you haven’t updated them in a while. You can download the latest drivers from the official driver support website.

We hope that miHoYo is aware of this and fixes this issue in an upcoming patch, as many laptop users use Intel GPUs and this might make it difficult for them to enjoy the game. For more information on Zenless Zone Zero, head over to our dedicated section.
