Where to find granite in Pax Dei
Granite is mined from Granite Deposits found throughout the world. They spawn in mountainous areas, and you can find these areas by opening the map and looking for places with hills. They spawn in most starting areas, but if you’re closer to the center you may find fewer of them, as the deposits spawning near the center of the map vary in number.

These granite deposits look similar to gneiss and ferrous iron deposits, but these are brighter and have gray shades on them. Gneiss is whiter, while ferrous iron deposits have clear black lines on them.
However, before venturing out to mine granite, you should craft or upgrade your pickaxe to an iron pickaxe. If you use a basic pickaxe, you will not be able to mine these deposits because the rock is too hard.
Start by mining the impure iron deposits to get iron ingots, then start upgrading your tools. If you already have the tools, be prepared for a long mining session. Granite deposits require at least 30 swings with an upgraded iron pickaxe to mine.
What is granite used for?
Granite is primarily used to craft a Basic Cooking Workbench. It unlocks either the Basic Baking Tools or the Basic Bread Oven. You can also get several consumable recipes, including Lora Des Papes, which greatly increases your stamina, up to 37 and provides 0.4 stamina regeneration. These are great for increasing your efficiency when chopping or mining resources. You can also use it to extend your swim time if you need to cross a river.
Once you have granite and have placed a basic cooking table, your cooking journey begins. You will also need some much-needed charcoal to make it.
