How to Get Void Shards in The First Descendant

One of the often overlooked mechanics of The First Descendant is Void Quests. These Void Quests are scattered around the map, but you don’t really learn how to complete them, or know what they do after completing the main quest. To complete them, you need Void Fragments. Here’s how to get Void Fragments in The First Descendant.

If you see a random Void Fusion Reactor around the world, you might be wondering why you can’t interact with it. This is because you need Void Fragments to activate them. To get Void Fragments, you need to look for the “Void Fragments” Void quests around the world.

Completing them will give you various Void Fragments. After completing a Void Fragment Void Quest, it will take a reset or cooldown period before you can complete it again, but it’s still pretty fast. Due to the different types of Void Fragments, Void Quests also require different combinations of Void Fragments to start.

Go to your Inventory or Consumables tab, then the Miscellaneous tab. Here you will see all types of Void Fragments that you currently have in your inventory.

It’s also worth noting that each Void Shard quest requires a specific element to start. For example, the Void Shard in the Sterile Land requires “Cold” to destroy the Void Shard. The initial descendant Viessa is perfect for this job. However, some quests require other elements from different descendants. You may need to unlock new descendants or make friends with other players who can open it.

What are Void Fragments used for?

As mentioned before, Void Fragments are used to start Void quests. If you hover over a specific Void quest, you will see the type of Void Fragment required to start the quest, including the quantity. In the image above, the Void Fusion Reactor – Agnar Desert Visionstone Deposit requires 12 Single Void Fragments and 3 Polymer Void Fragments.

Each Void Fragment Void quest only drops 4-6 Void Fragments, so it’s hard to stockpile them. However, the rewards are amazing, because if you’re lucky enough, you can get an extraordinary rare module for your descendants. You can see its ridiculous drop rate in the picture above, which is 1.6% chance of getting it.

These modules are just one of many ways to level up your character, though. You can also farm for the ultimate weapon or level up your mastery level.
