How to Split Stacks in Pacific Drive?

Pacific Avenue Wiki

Pacific Roads is a survival game released in 2024, developed by Ironwood Studios and published by Kepler Interactive. The game is set in the Pacific Northwest, where players can find escape routes on foot or in a station wagon. Players use a first-person perspective and must avoid metal monsters that will grab their vehicles, while also having the option to repair and customize their vehicles in the garage.

Development on Pacific Path began in 2019 under the direction of creative director Alexander Dracott, who came up with the idea while traveling to the Olympic Peninsula. Dracott initially considered developing the game independently, but founded Ironwood Studios and assembled a team during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The game was announced in September 2022 and released on PlayStation 5 and Windows on February 22, 2024. It received positive reviews, praised for its immersive atmosphere, engaging characters, and detailed vehicle customization. However, some critics noted its repetitive gameplay and challenging difficulty.

How to split the stack on Pacific Avenue?

In Pacific Drive, splitting stacks isn’t as easy as in other games, but there are ways to do it. The traditional method of splitting stacks doesn’t work in Pacific Drive, but there are alternatives.

  • One way is to use a storage box in the trunk of your car. After the car is repaired and the storage box is installed, put the items to be disassembled into the storage box.
  • Then, hold Shift and right-click an item to move one to your backpack. This allows you to break up stacks and manage your inventory more efficiently.
  • Another way to split a stack in Pacific Drive is by holding an item. While holding an item, right-click (not in inventory mode) to drop an item.
  • You can then place the remaining items in different containers and pick them up from the floor. This method can also help you break up stacks and organize your inventory.

It’s worth noting that inventory management in Pacific Drive can be tricky, and the developers may introduce easier ways to split stacks in future updates. Currently, using storage boxes and stowing items are effective ways to split stacks and manage inventory in the game.

Why is splitting the stack important?

Split stacking is important for inventory management in Pacific Drive. It allows you to control how much you carry, especially when you need to allocate resources or manage vehicle weight.

If you are having trouble splitting stacks on Pacific Drive, try using the methods above. If these methods don’t work, you may need to wait for a future update or patch that addresses this issue.

Pacific Drive’s developers have not announced any specific plans to address the split stack issue. However, they may consider implementing changes in future updates based on player feedback and the game’s evolving needs.

In Pacific Drive, you’ll traverse dangerous locations to collect vital supplies. Managing your materials and gear is crucial, as you have limited space in your backpack and suitcase. Occasionally, you may need to split up a bunch of items. Currently, this is challenging, as traditional Shift or Control methods don’t work. Are you ready to start your mission?

Pacific Avenue Gameplay

Pacific Roads is a first-person survival game set in the Olympic Restricted Zone in the Pacific Northwest in 1998. Players can traverse the restricted zone on foot or in a station wagon that can be customized in the garage and used as a base. Vehicle diagnostics are performed using a headset, and repairs (such as fixing a flat tire or using a blowtorch) can be performed on the go, with more complex repairs performed in the garage.

The Garage’s Invention Station helps collect resources and build machines for various purposes, such as discovering new routes or adding fuel. Weather affects the handling of the vehicle, and players must deal with metal monsters that will grab the car and other obstacles, such as electrical anomalies. They can find crafting recipes and blueprints to upgrade the vehicle, as well as notes and audio logs that help them escape the area. Players collect energy cores to open gates, but doing so makes the world more treacherous, causing enemies to appear and devastating storms.

Pacific Avenue Development and Release Dates

After working at video game studios like Sony Online Entertainment, Sucker Punch Productions, and Oculus VR, Alexander Dracott founded Seattle-based Ironwood Studios in 2019 to create his own games. He came up with the idea for Pacific Drive while driving across the Olympic Peninsula, recalling his memorable experiences driving through the Pacific Northwest as a child in Portland, Oregon. Initially, Dracott considered developing Pacific Drive alone, but as the concept expanded, he realized he needed a team. He began building a team during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and moved into a Seattle office in 2022.

The team aimed to make the player’s relationship with the car a core element of the game. Lead Game Designer Seth Rosen stressed that the car’s health was a better indicator of the player’s performance than the player’s own health. They experimented with scripted “character building” sessions for the cars, but found non-scripted gameplay more engaging. Rosen avoided frustrating survival game elements like inventory management and resource grinding.

The team designed enemies and events with simple behaviors that would form interesting scenarios when combined. They wanted enemies to be challenging but still allow players to creatively solve problems. Initial attempts to control enemies with artificial intelligence were abandoned because their behavior was too unpredictable while driving. The game’s world randomization was inspired by Derek Yu’s work in Spelunky. Pacific Drive is built on Unreal Engine 4.

Pacific Drive was announced during PlayStation’s State of Play event on September 13, 2022, along with its debut trailer. The game was originally scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 and Windows in 2023, but in order to ensure more development time and not overwork the team, the game’s release was pushed back to early 2024. A story trailer at the PC Gaming Show in November revealed a release date of February 22, 2024.
