Mastery levels in The First Descendant can be upgraded by visiting the Prime Hands in Albion. It is a console located in the left section of Albion when the player respawns in the central area.

Players cannot use Prime Hands until they have upgraded their Master Rank. However, this is very different from Character Rank. Character Rank is increased by killing enemies and completing quests, and applies to the currently equipped Descendant. Master Rank is tied to account level, so players can earn XP by completing quests, increasing weapon proficiency, and upgrading multiple Descendants.
