The hit British TV series Waterloo Road returns for its eleventh season. The series airs on BBC One in the UK from 3 January to 14 February 2023. The series revolves around the lives of staff and students at Waterloo Road High School, a fictional school in Greater Manchester. The series is produced by Wall to Wall and Rope Ladder Fiction, led by executive producers Cameron Roach, Gaynor Holmes and Joe MacLellan.

The decision to relaunch Waterloo Road was made following the show’s strong ratings following its launch as a boxset on BBC iPlayer. The show’s relaunch was announced in September 2021, much to the excitement of fans. Around 130 people worked on the series, including 50 cast members and 80 production team members, so the show was a collaborative effort.

Four actors returned to reprise their roles from the original series, bridging the two versions of the show. In order to support newcomers to television production, a six-month training program was developed and 20 people were trained.

The seven one-hour series explores a variety of storylines and examines important issues facing schools, pupils and parents in the UK post-pandemic. The show aims to shine a spotlight on vulnerable groups and explores topics such as ADHD, the UK cost of living crisis and bulimia nervosa.
