In 1989, during a night shift in the Raniganj coalfields, an explosion caused a leak in one of the mines. Despite the evacuation order, more than 60 miners in Behera district remained unaware because the district chief was deaf. Manager Jaswant Singh Gill noticed the emergency and offered to help with the rescue.

Faced with skepticism, Gill recruited a surveyor and drilling engineer to drill a borehole and use a flashlight to signal the miners. Unseen by the miners, a brick wall blocked their way. Meanwhile, Vandal Sen attempts to sabotage the mission, suggesting that a flooded shaft be used for the rescue. The mission is halted when a drowned miner is discovered, but a dog reminds Jill that the miner is still alive.

The focus shifts to Gil, who designs a rescue capsule. Despite the destruction, manual rescue began, but there was insufficient oxygen. Govardhan confronts Sen, the crane is repaired and Gill signals for help. Gil, who was finally rescued, was rewarded, and the disgraced surveyor was recognized.
