The journey to bring the series to the big screen began in 2004 under Paramount Pictures’ MTV Films banner. During this period, the Twilight Saga script was adapted, which was very different from the original novel. Three years later, Summit Entertainment acquired the film rights. After “The Twilight Saga” grossed $35.7 million on its first day, Summit Entertainment announced its intention to continue producing “New Moon.” Meanwhile, they also acquired the rights to adapt the remaining novels in the series earlier that month.
