Metal Gear Solid Delta Can Be Played in the Legacy Camera Perspective

Metal Gear Solid Delta is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, and we finally have more details on what the remake will feature following a lengthy gameplay demo during Xbox Showcase 2024. One of the major changes is a change in camera perspective, bringing the PS2 version closer to games like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, however, fans will be happy to know that you can switch back to a traditional camera in Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Legacy Camera confirmed for Metal Gear Solid 3 remake

On the official Metal Gear Solid Delta website and in a recent Legacy Collection video, it was confirmed that the game will have a Legacy style available for players who want to use the original camera perspective.

But if you’re not used to this perspective, the game’s camera has been completely redesigned to suit modern third-person gaming.

Metal Gear New Style

In a video for Legacy Part 2, Noriaki Okamura, producer of the series and the new version, confirmed in an interview with David Hayer that the gameplay remains the same as the original, but the visuals, controls, and overall feel of the game have been further modernized to suit a new generation of gamers.

He insisted that they would not try to change the core of the gameplay, but rather stay true to the original that was released in 2004. So far, everything they’ve said is right, and for a game this special, this is the remake I was hoping for. Changing too much would be a detriment to it, which is why they made it clear that this is mostly a visual upgrade, accompanied by quality of life features and modernized controls.

We’ve had a lot of great remakes over the past few years, including Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, and Final Fantasy VII. Dead Space is the closest thing to a remake, as it significantly improved the visuals and did some modernization.
