Minecraft Update 1.21 Patch Notes

Trail Chambers coming to Minecraft

The Minecraft 1.21 update brings “Trail Chambers”, a new hostile structure to the game. It lives up to its name and tests your adventuring and combat skills. However, unlike other existing structures in the game, the Alley Room is procedurally generated. This means that, just like biomes, you can see completely different structures each time.

In terms of design, Trail Chambers relies on many modules from the Copper Series. This includes existing blocks such as stairs and several new blocks such as copper light bulbs. Interestingly, it is also the only structure in the game that naturally generates decorative jars, which may contain valuable loot.

Get the trail generator ready

The trial room consists of various rooms, some with rewards and some with challenges. One of the main challenges involves the trail generator. These are new monster spawner blocks that spawn a wave of enemies. According to the preview in Minecraft Live, they can only spawn one type of mob at a time.

Once you defeat the monster, the block will eventually drop some loot and go on cooldown. The amount of loot and the size of each wave depends on the number of players. Therefore, you can enjoy killing enemies alone, even when playing on the best Minecraft 1.21 servers.

breeze

The Breeze is a playful hostile mob that uses wind attacks to playfully toss players around. It looks similar to a fire creature, but does less damage than a fire creature. Additionally, its attacks don’t deal damage directly, but instead interact with devices in your world. This allows breezes to activate the trapdoors and dispensers in the trace chamber.

new copper block

The Trail Room has many new, unique blocks. These include:

  • Bulbs: These are light-emitting blocks that darken over time due to oxidation. You can use an ax to clean it and restore its shine. This provides the option to create a controlled lighting system at the base.
  • Grids: These are hollow, solid blocks made up of many smaller holes and openings.
  • Bronze Doors: Interactive doors, like iron doors, may require some redstone signal to open.

artisan

Crafter is a new type of function block that allows you to automate the crafting process. You can use this to set up any crafting recipe in the game and make it work independently using redstone. This powerful mechanic opens up a ton of amazing ways to create farms in the game.

In terms of user interface, Crafter looks like a workbench. However, it gives you the unique option of disabling certain slots. With this mechanic, you can use the hopper to fill blocks one after another and craft any item you want without having to press any buttons.

Armadillo and new wolf armor

The 2023 Minecraft Mob Poll winner Armadillo will be coming to Minecraft 1.20 next year. They are passive mobs that spawn in Minecraft’s savanna biome. Armadillos are brown in color and have a strong carapace on their backs. Like armadillos in the real world, armadillos in Minecraft will retreat into their shells when frightened. While this behavior can protect them from hostile mobs, you must also approach armadillos carefully to avoid scaring them.

Scute: Armor for your wolf

Like baby turtles in Minecraft, armadillos drop shields when you interact with them. You can use them to craft armor for your tamed wolves, giving them extra protection. If wolf armor is similar to horse armor, you won’t be able to use any Minecraft enchantments on it.

Regardless, it’s a great way to protect your canine friends and take them on dangerous adventures. However, it’s unclear whether the armadillos had to be killed or tools such as scissors used to obtain the scutes.

Minecraft 1.21 release date

Currently, there are no official announcements or teasers regarding the release date of the Minecraft 1.21 update. However, let’s take a look at the most recent major releases to make a fair estimate:

  • Footprints and Stories Update: June 2023
  • Wild Update: June 2022
  • Caves and Cliffs (Part 2): November 2021
  • Caves and Cliffs (Part 1): June 2021

As you’ve noticed, most of the last year’s major updates were released in June of the following year. So, if we follow this trend, it would be reasonable to expect the Minecraft 1.21 update release date to be in June 2024.
