Monster Hunter: World

“Monster Hunter: World” is a 2018 action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. It is the fifth mainline work in the “Monster Hunter” series. Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows, it invites players to take on the role of a hunter tasked with hunting down and dealing with monsters in a variety of environments. The game was released globally for consoles in January 2018 and for Windows in August 2018. The core content of the game is that players use monster parts to craft equipment to deal with increasingly challenging creatures.

The game introduces changes including interconnected environmental spaces, advanced monster AI and physics, persistent cooperative multiplayer, and a carefully crafted tutorial for a smoother entry into the series. Capcom is aiming for a simultaneous release worldwide, unlike previous staggered releases. This approach, along with online gaming support between regions, has contributed to its international success.

Monster Hunter: World has been critically acclaimed for its ease of attracting new players and engaging gameplay, becoming Capcom’s best-selling game, with more than 23 million copies sold as of January 2024. The Iceborne DLC expansion packs released in 2019 and 2020 further expanded its success, with sales reaching 10 million US dollars in sales of the series as of December 2022. The series continues with Monster Hunter Rise, co-developed with World, releasing on Nintendo Switch in March 2021, followed by a Windows version in January 2022.

Monster Hunter: World Platinum Fish Locations

In Monster Hunter World, the elusive Platinum Fish is a valuable catch that earns you specific commissions. If you want a simple, reliable location, head to the eastern campground in Elders Rest Area 8. The campground is conveniently located and platinum fish can be found and farmed easily.

After spawning in the eastern camp, focus on the crystal pool on the left. Inside, you’ll find a school of fish, including the elusive platinum fish. Equip your fishing rod (a standard tool for all hunters), throw it into the pool, and wait patiently for a bite. Roll up the Platinum Fish to complete your commission. Keep in mind that the pool may also be home to a large platinum fish, which requires a Quick Time Event (QTE) mini-game to capture. It’s worth noting that if your commission specifically calls for Common Platinum Fish, catching a Large Platinum Fish will not satisfy the requirement. Fishing in this location is a reliable way to get the Platinum Fish you need for Monster Hunter World quests.

Monster Hunter: World gameplay

“Monster Hunter: World” is an action role-playing game in which you play a hunter and explore a “new world” full of monsters. Your mission, assigned by the Research Council located in the central hub of Astra, is to hunt down and deal with large monsters in order to protect the Council and study these creatures. The game revolves around crafting and upgrading your character’s gear, including weapons and armor made from loot earned by defeating monsters or completing quests.

The game introduces a seamless and connected world without the need for loading screens between areas, unlike previous Monster Hunter games. Astera is a central hub where players can manage their inventory, craft new gear, and acquire quests. Crafting and upgrading weapons and armor involves using monster parts and resources obtained in battle.

Missions take players to various areas of the new world, each consisting of numbered areas. Players can track monsters using scout flies that highlight traces and signs. Combat involves using weapons and items to weaken monsters, with tactics changing as monsters become more aggressive or run away to recover.

World introduces additional combat tools, including slingers for projectiles and cloaks for temporary buffs. Environmental elements, such as dike breaches, can be used strategically to deal with monsters. The game also features a dynamic weather system and a day and night cycle that affects monster behavior.

Combat requires players to manage health, stamina, and various debuffs. If you faint more than 3 times during the mission, you will fail. Successful completion of missions will reward players with resources, parts, and in-game currency.

Multiplayer supports up to four players online, with the option to post a mission, join others, and fire SOS flares for help. The game also includes limited-time event missions and downloadable content, most of which are cosmetic and don’t affect gameplay. The goal of Monster Hunter: World is to make the series accessible to a wider audience while maintaining the series’ collaborative spirit.
