David Baker developed the RoseTTAFold program, which allows the design of entirely new proteins based on specific functional descriptions.
The program has successfully created proteins that can be used as drugs, vaccines and sensors. His work has revolutionized the way scientists approach protein engineering, enabling the design of proteins specifically designed to fight diseases such as COVID-19 and cancer.

Hassabis and Jumper co-developed AlphaFold2, an artificial intelligence model that predicts protein structure with unprecedented accuracy.
The model solves a long-standing challenge in biology – predicting how amino acid sequences fold into three-dimensional structures.
Since its launch, AlphaFold2 has predicted the structures of more than 200 million proteins, providing critical insights that accelerate drug discovery and understanding of biological processes.
