Noida to Greater Noida Metro Expansion: Route, Stations, Timeline; Everything You Need to Know

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced Wednesday that it will start establishing a 11.56km metro connection between the Botanical Garden and the 142 Metro Station in the next three months. The final approval of the central government is expected to be very fast.

Over the next month, the NMRC will complete the topographic survey so that work can begin at that location. According to Noida Metro officials, soil tests were performed on this pathway in addition to terrain surveys.

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is working on two key Metro expansion projects:

  • The 5km subway connection is from Noida’s District 51 to Greater Noida West’s Knowledge Park-5.
  • The 11.56 km subway route from the Botanical Garden to District 142.

For both projects, the NMRC prepared detailed project reports (DPRS) that have been submitted to the central government for final approval.

gr. Current connectivity challenges from Noida to Delhi

Currently, the 29.7 km water aqua line of Noida Metro does not directly connect Greater Noida and Noida to the Delhi metro network. It is also impossible to enter the Blue Line of Delhi Metro smoothly, which enters Noida through Mayur Vihar and terminates at the Electronic City Metro Station (Zone 42).

How will Delhi Greater Noida Metro help?

The 142 Metro Link in Botanical Gardens is expected to improve connectivity in a variety of ways:

  • Provides direct subway access to the remote areas of Greater Noida.
  • Improve connectivity with the upcoming Jewar Noida International Airport.
  • Act as a branch of the existing Delhi Metro Blue Line, ensuring a direct connection between Greater Noida and Delhi.

CEO Lokesh M said: “The 11.56km metro link will be directly connected to the faraway areas of Greater Noida and the upcoming Noida Airport. Our goal is to start construction as soon as possible. All necessary paperwork will be ensured Progress immediately.” Noida authorities.

Pre-application preparations are in progress

Before construction began, NMRC began a topographic survey along the 11.56km route. This survey helps:

  • Determine the latitude and longitude of buildings, houses, markets and other structures along the route.
  • Make sure to ensure proper subway alignment while considering obstacles.

“Topographic analysis is crucial to finalizing consistency of the metro link. The investigation is expected to be completed soon as the central government will soon finalize the funding model and approve the DPR, allowing the construction to begin.”

Approval status and project schedule

NMRC approved the DPR for the 11.56km Metropolitan Link on December 27, 2023. The project was initially approved in December 2023 at the 38th Board of Directors meeting of NMRC. .

The importance of Botanical Garden Metro Station

The Botanical Garden is the first interchange station in the National Capital Region (NCR), connecting:

  • Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden Corridor (December Metro Magenta Line).
  • Blue Line (Downtown Noida to Dvaca Area 21).

This makes it a key link for commuters traveling between Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi.
