Torture of Innocence is a three-part BBC drama that premiered in April 2018. The play belongs to the suspense, drama and thriller genres and is adapted from the novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The show features an impressive cast, including Morven Christie, Bill Nighy, Anna Chancellor, Alice Eve and Eleanor Tomlinson.

It was originally planned to be broadcast on the BBC Christmas programme, but was postponed due to sexual assault allegations against original actor Ed Westwick. His scenes were later reshot, with Christian Cooke playing his role. Despite some criticism of the plot changes, the series received positive reviews, particularly praising its direction and style.
The storyline revolves around a murder mystery and each episode is approximately 57 minutes long. The production is in partnership with Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited, with executive producers Basi Akpabio, James Prichard, Sarah Phelps, Karen Thrussell, Damien Timmer, Helen Ziegler and Gaynor Holmes.
The series was successfully broadcast on BBC One from April 1 to 15, 2018, and was subsequently released on DVD by Universal Pictures UK on March 11, 2019.

The Trial of Innocence Ending Explained

Innocence torture plot
The story begins when wealthy heiress Rachel Argyle is found murdered in her large house. Her adopted son Jack was arrested, but he died in prison before his trial. Eighteen months later, a man named Arthur Calgary showed up to provide Jack with an alibi. Calgary claims he was in the Arctic at the time and didn’t know about the murder until recently. As he attempts to clear Jack’s name, he faces hostility from Rachel’s family.

Flashbacks reveal Rachel to be a strict mother, giving her children a reason to resent her. Calgary faces danger as the truth about the night of murder is revealed. Rachel’s husband Leo was having an affair and killed her with an Egyptian statuette. Leo works with Detective Bellamy Gould to frame Jack for hiding family secrets. When the siblings discover the truth, Leo disappears.
Eventually, Leo was imprisoned in his bomb shelter, while Calgary was returned to a mental hospital. The Argyle siblings visit Calgary and housekeeper Kirsten confronts Leo. Differences from the novel include changes in location, character background, and plot resolution.
