The Telugu film industry also had a strong showing, submitting three films – Kalki 2898 AD, Mangalavaaram and the critically acclaimed superhero film Hanu-Man – showcasing the industry’s growing influence in India’s film output.

Kiran Rao’s Madame Lapata, a satirical examination of patriarchy set in rural India, has the potential to resonate with audiences around the world.
