Path of Exile gameplay
Path of Exile is an action role-playing game in which players control characters to explore vast areas, fight monsters, and complete NPC tasks to gain experience and equipment. Inspired by the Diablo series, especially Diablo II, the game offers procedurally generated areas that provide a unique experience with each playthrough. Players can choose from seven character classes, each associated with a specific attribute such as strength, agility, or intelligence.
Randomly generated items with different properties and gem slots form an important part of the gameplay, requiring players to seek balanced equipment. Skill gems, when placed in gear slots, grant active skills that level up with the character. Modifications via support gems change the primary skill, increasing attack speed, damage, and more based on the linked slot.
The game features a massive passive skill tree shared by all classes, offering upgrade options to enhance attributes and abilities. In addition, each class has access to advantage classes, which provide specialized bonuses. The game’s economy relies on bartered “currency items” that serve various purposes, providing a unique system that differs from traditional in-game currency.
Path of Exile also offers a variety of league options, including Standard, Hardcore, and Solo Create modes, as well as ad-hoc Challenge Leagues, each with their own rules, item accessibility, and duration for players to Diverse and exciting gaming experience.
Path of Exile plot
In Path of Exile, players find themselves exiled to the cursed continent of Wraeclast, a once prosperous land that is now a penal colony. The game follows the exiles’ journey to survive in the harsh wilderness and face the dark secrets lurking in the ruins of ancient empires and Vaal civilizations.
Initially exiled by the High Templar Dominus for various crimes, the Exile later encountered and defeated Dominus and his assistant Patty, revealing their involvement in disturbing experiments. They learn of a device created by Malachai to awaken a powerful entity called “The Beast.” The Exile overcame the challenge and eventually ventured into the Beast, defeating Malachai.

Returning to Oriath, they encountered corruption within the Templar Order under the leadership of High Templar Avarius, and overthrew it in the face of the “Innocent” God. However, the Exiles inadvertently awakened the Old Gods, causing Oriath to fall into chaos.
Under Xin’s guidance, they returned to Wraeclast to extract the essence of the beast to fight against Tawa, the magical creature of destruction. After defeating the awakened gods and reuniting with Sinners, Sin and Sinner helped the Exiles defeat Kitava and restore balance to Oriath.

Path of Exile review
Path of Exile received generally positive reviews from players and critics. The game has been praised for its deep gameplay mechanics, complex character customization through an extensive skill tree, and vast amounts of available content, and is known for its free-to-play mode, where you don’t have to pay to win. Its dark fantasy setting, engaging storyline, and constant updates that introduce new challenges and items keep players immersed.
However, some reviewers pointed out that the learning curve for beginners is steep due to complex mechanics and a less than intuitive user interface. Nonetheless, the game’s commitment to providing a rewarding experience, especially for action RPG fans looking for depth and challenge, makes it one of the best in the genre.
