Pokemon: Who is Zinnia?

Who is Zinnia? Find out all about this mysterious Pokemon character.

Pokémon: Who is Zinnia?

Zinnia is a Pokémon Trainer who has only appeared in the Delta chapter of Final Ruby and Initial Sapphire and in Pokémon Masters EX. She is the Learned Guardian of the Dragonites. The Dragonites worship Rayquaza because it saved the Hoenn region from the war between Primal Groudon and Kyogre using the power of meteors. As the Learned Guardian, Zinnia’s duty is to summon Rayquaza when necessary.

Zinnia is a main character in the Delta arc of Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In this post-game story, a meteoroid powerful enough to destroy the world is discovered heading towards Hoenn. Although Professor Cozmo and the Devon Corporation want to use the Infinite Energy and Link Cables to teleport the meteoroid elsewhere, Zinnia stops them. She knows that the meteoroid will be sent to the universes of the original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, where there is no Infinite Energy (the same energy as Mega Evolution) to help those people divert the meteoroid away from them.

Zinnia is the one who tells Maxie and Archie how to awaken Primal Groudon and Kyogre, hoping that their destruction will lead to the return of Rayquaza and stop the Primal Pokémon and Meteoroid. After the player stops Team Magma or Aqua’s plans and captures the Primal Pokémon, Zinnia spends the Delta chapter collecting Keystones to summon Rayquaza at the top of the Pillar. She succeeds, but Rayquaza can only Mega Evolve with the power of the player’s Meteorite item, prompting them to capture it and use it to destroy Meteoroid.

The player fights Zinnia twice in the Delta arc: once early on, and again after capturing Rayquaza.

Pokemon Masters EX

In Pokemon Masters EX, Zinnia has three Sync Pair units. She first appears as a free unit for Rayquaza, unlocked in the Legendary Adventure, Dragons Who Rule the Skies. Rayquaza can Mega Evolve after obtaining a Power-Up Item from Team Aqua’s Stormy Seas Villain Event. Additionally, Zinnia and Rayquaza’s Potential can be raised to 6-Star EX through Custom Legendary Spirits obtained from Team Magma’s Red-Hot Rage Villain Event. These two Villain Events occasionally re-run for a limited time.

The second Sync Pair of Zinnias is with the Delta Arc’s ace Pokémon, Charmeleon. Players can redeem BP Sync Pair Tickets to obtain this 4-star pair. It is permanently available, but Zinnias’ appearance remains the same as always.

Zinnia’s third Sync Partner wears a special costume, and comes with Thievul, a Pokémon she has not used elsewhere. This Sync Partner is part of the “Crack the Case!” Costume Event, and is a rival to Detective Steven. Zinnia wears an elegant top hat and monocle, similar in style to the great thief Arsène Lupin. Unlike the previous two Sync Partners of Zinnia, her special costume can only be obtained occasionally through limited, non-permanent Sync Partner Scouts.
