Theme and meaning
The theme of this year’s PBD is “Contribution of Diaspora to Viksit Bharat” भरतीयों करोगदोन). This theme was highlighted as the major role of the Indian diaspora in shaping developed India, in line with the government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision. The event not only recognized the achievements of NRIs but also sought to create a dialogue on how they can further contribute to India’s growth in various sectors.

For the first time, Bhubaneswar will host this prestigious event, leveraging its rich cultural heritage and modern infrastructure to welcome participants from across the world. The conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 9, which coincides with the historic day marking Mahatma Gandhi’s return from South Africa in 1915. The chief guest at this year’s event will be Christine Kara Cangalo, President of Trinidad and Tobago, who will address attendees virtually.
Event schedule
The three-day conference will feature various activities aimed at engaging the diaspora. The first day, January 8, will be dedicated to celebrating Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The segment will focus on youth leadership and empowerment, with notable speakers including Newsweek CEO Dev Pragad.
Five thematic plenary sessions will be held during the conference, with the following themes:
