In Alan Wake II, the gameplay is very different from the first game. It’s a survival horror adventure game where you play as either Alan Wake or the legendary Anderson in two separate stories. You can choose which story to play first, starting with Eren’s story and ending with Saga’s. Both characters explore different locations and fight ghostly enemies using flashlights and guns.
The flashlight is your main tool for weakening these enemies, but you need to use it wisely as it can drain the power. Managing your batteries and ammo is crucial to your survival. When the enemy is too close, you can ask Alan and Saga to dodge to avoid taking damage.
The game also has detective elements, especially when playing as Saga. You can pause the game and enter a safe space called the “Heartland” to solve puzzles and learn more about the characters and story. Like the first game, you can find manuscript pages that provide clues about the plot. In addition, Alan Wake II also introduces a dialogue tree system, allowing you to make choices that affect the development of the story as the game progresses. It’s an exciting mix of horror, action and detective work.
