Tangaroa raft drill
Tangaroa is significantly different from previous story islands due to its vast size and vertical layout, making it a challenging area to explore. Players must be fully prepared before venturing into this new territory.
In Raft Tangaroa, players who successfully explore Caravan Town will discover the password to enter Tangaroa. The site is crucially connected to the overarching narrative of runaway sea level rise. However, like other story islands, something went wrong here.
While Tangaroa Island may not be as large as Balboa Island, its complex vertical design makes it more challenging than Caravanserai. Players who want to thoroughly explore every corner and discover notes, blueprints, and secrets should prepare for an extensive journey.
Preparation:
-
Tangaroa lacks soil, hidden treasure, or animals to capture, so players can leave relevant tools on the raft.
-
Tangaroa has an abundance of trees, including the game’s earliest banana trees, making axes priceless.
-
It is recommended to carry at least two machetes, as there are respawning enemies called Butler Bots and powerful Lurkers from Wasagatan. Additionally, some areas have roadblocks that require the use of a machete to clear the road.
-
Tangaroa’s underground spaces are dark, so players should bring a headlamp to improve visibility.
-
While Tangaroa offers a variety of food and water sources in its upper levels, players should still bring consumables to explore underground.
Explore the depths:
-
The first challenge for players is to find the entrance into Tangaroa. Yellow arrows along the base of the dome lead the way to the sea level entrance. Since the player’s raft is usually too large to fit inside, one must swim to the entrance while keeping an eye out for sharks that may enter the loading area.
-
Inside Tangaroa, players will encounter helpful signs that guide them to different areas. Starting on the left, players will find a ladder going down. The cafeteria table holds the first note, while the adjacent kitchen holds a generator component in a crate.
-
Leaving the back of the cafeteria, players can follow signs to reach the generator and storage area. In the dead end, players will find a second generator component. Continuing to the storage area, beneath the broken ladder, players will find the third generator section.
-
A ladder in the storage area leads to a generator that requires three parts to start. Solving the puzzle requires creating a path to the surface access door by moving the crate to an adjacent empty space. Red crates are impassable, while crates with yellow and black electrical tape indicate open sides but no ability to rotate. Before solving the puzzle, players should open a path to a hidden room beneath the controls to obtain titanium ore, two suitcases, a machete, and the “Box Up!” achievement.
-
After solving the puzzle, the player receives a blueprint for the water pipe and a second note. However, the hatch labeled “Ground Access” is a trap that floods the area. The true way forward is to return to the storage area and use the water to reach the broken ladder leading to the plantation, where the player can open the previously locked door and obtain the third note.
-
The plantation’s electrified water poses dangers, but players can move through the plantation between impacts, standing on solid ground if necessary. Repairing the broken door requires three rolls of tape, one of which is located next to the first piece of tape and the fourth bill. Two additional tape rolls are located in the attached storage room.
-
Players should also collect strawberries and cut down banana trees in the plantation, as this is the only place in the game where these fruits and their seeds can be found.
-
There is an electrical box in a room at the far end of the plantation, which opens another door. However, players will also need three rolls of tape, which are not available in the plantation area. So now, players should take the fifth note and exit through the Surface Access door.
-
Further exploration revealed Building 3, accessed via a tunnel on the right side of town. Although there is only one apartment on the 8th floor, players can obtain tokens in the bathroom, find safes and tape in blocked bedrooms, and gain access to balconies that lead to the roof. From the roof, players can use the zipline to reach another building with crates and tokens.
The guide continues with an introduction to the various buildings and floors of Tangaroa, including Building 1, Building 2, Building 5, Building 9, and more. Players are advised to collect items, tokens, and notes while exploring Tangaroa’s complex layout.
Floating city:
-
After ascending from the lower deck, players reach Tangaroa’s main level, where they encounter a large statue with the note six at its base. Additionally, the Butler Bot appears and players should strafe to the right to avoid the Taser. These robots primarily drop keycards, which are required to open red-lit doors in downtown Tangaroa.
-
Players will notice an opening on the edge of the dome, which they can interact with to deploy an inflatable ramp to the water below. The ramps provide a convenient way to bypass the underground works on future visits. Players can also maneuver their raft closer to these ramps for easier access.
-
The main goal is to enter the town’s central tower, but the entrance is locked. The nearby vending machine requires coins that the player does not yet possess. Instead, players should head to Building 1, which is located to the left of the stairs.

This guide provides detailed information on exploring various buildings, collecting tokens, and obtaining necessary items. Players must navigate Building 1, Building 2, Building 5, Building 8, Building 3 and other locations within Tangaroane.
going up? :
-
To reach the top, players must climb a ladder before entering and activating the elevator. On the second floor, players should open the locked door on floor 0 and collect note 7. This is also an ideal time to use vending machine tokens to purchase essential items.
-
At the top of Tangaroa, players will find an eighth note and a blueprint for a large storage container. Unfortunately, the ladder to the top is out of reach and the emergency bridge requires a four-digit code. Note eight provides clues to four locations, each corresponding to a building number that matches the code. Players should visit these locations in order:
- V Arcade(4)
- Chi’s Burger(8)
- seaside barber(1)
- floating fashion(3)
Entering the correct code can cause unexpected things to happen. The player must then travel to a location on the far side of Tangaroa, which can be reached by driving a raft or swimming. Ladders and hatches lead to this new location, where players will find a safe, playable character Elaine, Note Nine, and blueprints for the water tank.
- This note points the way to the next story island. To end the Tangaroa location, players should look for another safe and a final note.
This guide provides players with comprehensive assistance as they navigate Tangaroa, from initial preparation to exploring its intricate layout and uncovering key items and secrets. “

The game offers dynamic perspective, allowing players to switch between first- and third-person views in single-player or multiplayer modes. In multiplayer games, the game automatically provides servers to facilitate cooperative play among participants.
Upon entering the game world, players will find themselves floating on a crude 2×2 raft in the center of a vast ocean. Equipped with just a hook, players can cast their poles to retrieve a variety of items from the water, including barrels, wood, palm fronds, plastic, and crates.
While swimming is an option for gathering resources, players must exercise caution as the raft is constantly drifting due to ongoing ocean currents. Additionally, lurking beneath the waves is an ever-present threat in the form of sharks, which can attack both the player and the raft itself. Crafting becomes crucial as players use collected materials to create tools, weapons, nets, and even steering wheels, enhancing the functionality, size, and defense of their raft.
Survival is more than just resource gathering, as players must satisfy basic needs like hunger and thirst. This requires catching or growing food and purifying water for sustenance. However, gulls pose a challenge to food production and must be stopped or dealt with.
As players travel, they may encounter islands suitable for exploration, offering unique items and resources. The coastal areas also offer diving opportunities and special item collections, adding depth to the evolving survival experience.
