In 1899, after a failed robbery, the Van der Linde gang, led by Dutch, fled Blackwater in order to obtain enough money to live a peaceful retirement. Along the way, they face betrayal, conflicts with rival families and confrontations with law enforcement.

The gang’s journey takes them from Lemoyne to Saint-Denis, facing tragedies such as Hosea’s disappearance and John’s arrest.A shipwreck on Guama added to their challenges, but they were eventually reunited and returned to the United States

Dutch’s behavior becomes erratic, suspicions arise within the gang, and loyalty is questioned by Arthur, who is diagnosed with tuberculosis. The gang splits, and Arthur realizes Dutch’s betrayal and makes a choice to either help John escape or get the gang’s money back during the Pinkerton attack.

In 1907, John sought redemption and tried to live an honest life. Faced with Micah’s lingering threat, John, Sadie, and Charles confront him, leading to Dutch’s departure and Micah’s death. John starts over with Abigail and Jack on their ranch, closing the chapter in the Vanderlinde saga.
