Traitor, also known as American Traitor in the United States, is a 2017 action thriller film directed by Steven Quayle and written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk. The film stars Sullivan Stapleton, JK Simmons, and Charlie Bewley.

The plot revolves around a team of Navy SEALs on a mission to retrieve Nazi gold hidden in a bank vault in a sunken town at the bottom of a Bosnian lake. The film explores themes of risk-taking, teamwork and treasure hunting, set against the backdrop of a thrilling underwater heist.

The film was first released in Germany on September 1, 2017, and later in France on August 29, 2018. However, it had a later release in the United States, on January 22, 2019, when Lionsgate Home Entertainment released the film on Blu-ray and DVD.

Although the release date of “The Traitor” in the United States has been postponed, it has attracted people’s attention with its exciting action scenes, gripping storyline and outstanding performances of the actors. The unique setting of the film, which combines military action and treasure hunting elements, brings an exciting and interesting viewing experience to the audience.

Traitor movie ending explained

The action film “The Renegade” features intense gunfights that are hampered by poor CGI, but still deliver thrilling scenes as Harris, Woody and Peck face off against Gorham’s men.

However, Burton eventually broke Golan’s neck, killing him. Despite facing a huge disadvantage, the veterans relied on their limited weapons, which included a few guns, grenades, and a crossbow, to take down their opponent.

As unbelievable as the film may be, it highlights the enduring camaraderie among the soldiers, showing that their military experiences left a lasting impact both mentally and emotionally.

At the end of the film, Palmer approaches Burton, Woody, Harris, and Peck to hint at a possible sequel. While the film doesn’t break new ground, it emphasizes the unbreakable bond between the soldiers.

However, depictions of veterans impulsively participating in dangerous missions may be less than credible, as real-life soldiers typically avoid conflict after witnessing the horrors of war. Ultimately, The Renegade prompts reflection on the costs of war and the lasting legacy left by those who serve.

Traitor Conspiracy

In August 1944, the Germans decided to move the captured paintings and about 25 tons of gold ingots from Paris to a safe place. The gold ingots were then transported to the Bosnian town of Bosnian Grahovo and stored in a bank vault. The Germans arrested all the townspeople, but a young boy escaped.

In 1995, a US Navy SEAL team disguised as journalists captured and rescued Bosnian General Milic, who was responsible for many atrocities, in Sarajevo. However, their covert operation was thwarted and the team was forced to flee the pursuing Bosniaks in tanks, causing severe damage to the city.

Back at the base, the team members are reprimanded for their behavior and suspended for three days. Team member Stanton Baker becomes romantically involved with a local waitress, Lala, and goes to her home.

Soon after, a group of thugs break in, led by Laura’s brother Milenko, and demand something from her. Fortunately, team leader Matt Barnes arrives and fights off the thugs, and Laura decides to reveal that the thugs want a gold ingot worth about $150,000 that she is keeping.

She explained that her grandfather, the only survivor of the massacre of civilians in Grahovo, stole a gold ingot and buried it, which was later discovered by partisans who blew up a dam and flooded the town in retaliation for the German pogroms.

She revealed that there were at least 2,000 gold bars inside, worth at least $300 million, which would bring huge benefits to the local people in the war-torn country.

The team decides to retrieve the gold from the vault, which is now buried deep underwater. Using their connections inside the base, they obtain the necessary equipment and transport it to a lake deep in enemy territory.

Meanwhile, thugs led by Lara’s brother search her apartment, find the gold, and show it to the local commander of the Bosnian army, who decides to stop the SEALs.

The SEALs discover an air pocket inside the church and manage to break into the vault, only to find that there are only 10 gold bars inside, not the 2,000 that Laura claimed.

However, they discovered a covered opening in the wall where the rest of the gold was hidden. They then used an inflatable cargo parachute to bring the gold to the surface. A helicopter arrived in time to repel the enemy forces, and the gold was then safely flown back to the base.

Half of the gold was sent back to France, while the other half was sold and the money was divided among the team, with Laura getting the lion’s share. However, the team members decided to give their share to Laura and go to the bar.

Traitor 2017 movie release date where to watch Traitor 2017?

In March 2015, Europa Films initially set the film’s release date as July 15, 2016. However, the release date was later pushed back to January 20, 2017. Subsequently, in May 2016, the release date was pushed back to January 27, 2017. By November 2016, the release date was further pushed back to February 3, 2017, and the film was renamed The Traitor.

Despite these rescheduling efforts, the film’s release was once again delayed, this time to September 1, 2017. However, in July of that year, the film was removed from the release schedule entirely, and its future became uncertain.

After numerous delays and changes, Lionsgate Home Entertainment finally released the film on Blu-ray and DVD on January 22, 2019, under the title American Traitor.

The film went through multiple release dates before its final release, which meant there were many challenges and uncertainties in its production and distribution. Despite these setbacks, the film eventually found an audience, albeit through a home entertainment release rather than a traditional theatrical release.

Currently, you can choose to watch American Traitor on Amazon Prime Video. In addition, you can also rent or buy the movie on Apple TV, Google Play Movies, and Vudu for convenient streaming.
