Who is Scott Carson?

Scott Paul Carson (born 3 September 1985) is an English professional footballer, best known as a goalkeeper. He currently plays for Premier League club Manchester City. Carson began his football journey at Leeds United Academy in 2002 and made his first-team debut against Manchester United in February 2004.

In January 2005, he moved to Liverpool for a fee of £750,000 and was called up to the England squad later that year. Carson contributed to Liverpool’s success, making nine appearances, including the UEFA Champions League quarter-final win over Juventus in April 2005. He went on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa to gain experience.

In 2008, Carson returned to Liverpool from Aston Villa and joined West Bromwich Albion for a transfer fee of £3.25 million in July. In 2011, he moved to Turkey’s Bursaspor team and returned to England after two years to join Wigan Athletic.

In 2015, he signed with Derby County. Carson’s journey continued and in August 2019, he joined Manchester City on loan to provide backup for Ederson and Claudio Bravo. His contribution led to him signing permanently with Manchester City in 2021, marking an important chapter in his football career.
