Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Best Graphics Settings for PC

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is not a very demanding game and runs well on PC in most situations. There are some common hitches when Unreal Engine shaders are compiled, but they are not severe and do not happen often. If you want to increase your frame rate, here are the best Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance graphics settings.

There aren’t a ton of individual settings to tweak in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and the graphics settings screen is pretty straightforward. Surprisingly, you don’t need powerful hardware to hit 60 FPS or higher. We tested the game on an RTX 3060 with 12 GB of VRAM, paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 and 16 GB of RAM. By 2024 standards, this is basically a budget PC. Even at this setting, my frame rates hovered around 180 – 230 FPS at 1080p.

  • Motion Blur: Disabling motion blur only increased the average frame rate by 2%, so this is largely a matter of personal preference. I turned it off for greater overall clarity.
  • Resolution: Changing the resolution is the easiest way to improve performance. At 1440p with the above settings, I averaged around 118 FPS. Turning it down to 1080p increased my FPS by almost 50%, bringing my average to 193 FPS.
  • Anti-Aliasing: This is essential, and turning it off only increases the average FPS by 1.5%. However, the visual degradation is very noticeable. As you can see in the comparison screenshots below, vehicles in the distance look very jagged. The main character’s hair also has jagged edges, which looks very distracting.

  • Ambient Occlusion: In addition to resolution, ambient occlusion has a pretty significant impact on frame rate. Turning off ambient occlusion increases the average frame rate by 12%, but different parts of the demo lose depth. In the screenshot, you can see that the debris lacks soft shadows, making it look flat.

  • If you want to limit your framerate, make sure to use the driver tools to do so. In-game limiters are unreliable and may increase stuttering.
    • For NVIDIA users: Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program settings > Select SMT 5 V (by clicking Add) > Set Maximum Frame Rate to desired value

  • While we recommend using V-Sync via the driver again, it’s perfectly fine to use it in games as well.

Overall, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance runs flawlessly at over 60 FPS on most PCs from the last 5 years or so. If you have an older system, try lowering the resolution or turning off ambient occlusion.
