Star Ocean: The Second Story

Star Ocean: The Second Story is an action role-playing video game that takes place in a science fantasy world. The story follows a young man named Claude C. Kenny who is stranded on a primitive planet. He meets friends and must stop the plot of an evil organization that threatens multiple worlds.

The game was originally released for PlayStation and later received an enhanced remaster called Star Ocean: Second Evolution, which added new cutscenes, music, and more to the game. The new version of the game developed by Gemdrops is titled “Star Ocean: The Second Story R” and was released on November 2, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows.

Star Ocean: The Second Story Game

In the game “Star Ocean: The Second Story”, players can choose to control the human character Claude or the Ned character Reina, and the progress and ending of the story depend on the choices they make. The game provides a total of 12 playable characters, but players can only recruit 6 of them to form their own team, and some choices will affect the availability of other characters.

Gameplay consists of exploring towns and dungeons, completing the main story, and taking on side quests to gain experience points and upgrades. Combat takes place in real time, with players directly controlling their character while the game’s artificial intelligence controls other party members. Skills and feats can be learned, enhancing a character’s abilities and allowing them to craft a variety of items.

The game also features a unique “Private Action” mechanic that allows players to influence the relationships between characters, affecting the storyline and leading to multiple possible endings, with a total of 86 different endings waiting to be discovered.

Star Ocean Part 2 Plot

The story background of “Star Ocean: The Second Story” is set in 366 AD (2452 AD), 20 years after the original “Star Ocean”. The game revolves around two protagonists, Claude C. Kenny and Rainer Langford. Claude is a young Earth Federation lieutenant who embarks on a mission to investigate a mysterious energy field on the planet Milosinia. However, an unexpected event teleports him to the planet Banishment, where he meets Reina, who believes him to be the “Hero of Light.”

This sets off their journey to uncover the truth behind the Witching Earth, a meteorite that has brought chaos to the Expulsion, including monster attacks and natural disasters. Claude and Reyna, accompanied by other characters, set out to fight the Ten Sages, who are using magic orbs to return to their exiled home and threaten the universe. The game’s ending varies depending on the player’s choices and whether they reveal the Ten Sages’ true motives through private actions.
