Trigger Point Season 1 Ending Explained
Trigger Point Season 1 ended with the reveal of the mastermind behind the bombings. Suspect John Hudson was ultimately proven innocent, and the focus turned to Karl Maguire. Karl was revealed to be the mastermind behind the West Haven terrorist attack, the mosque bombing, and Lana’s brother Billy’s car bomb murder. Although the lack of an actual explosion in the finale was a bit disappointing, the episode still delivered intense drama.
The motive behind the Carr bombing ties into clues scattered throughout the series, involving numbers like 66 11 42 and 1912. These numbers represent elements in the periodic table, and they point to HMX files at the Ministry of Defense’s Steephome base. This connection uncovers Operation Dynamo in Afghanistan, which was covered up after a traffic accident in 2009.
Carl is the only soldier to survive the incident, and he seeks revenge on local councillor Ayesha Campbell-Khan, accusing her of covering up the soldier’s death. His plan is to use a suicide belt with a dead man’s switch, targeting Ayesha and anyone present. After Carl is shot by a sniper, Lana steps in and holds the switch. Despite Carl’s framing of John and Lana’s shock, she emerges unscathed.
Trigger Point Season 2 follows Lana as she returns to active duty after training a Ukrainian bomb disposal squad in Estonia. The series kicks off with the bomb attacks in London, and the first episode promises more suspense and heavy casualties.
