The results of the UK general election are in, with the Labour Party winning over 400 seats in the House of Commons by a landslide. In this year’s election, 107 British Indian candidates competed for seats in the House of Commons. According to the latest reports, some of them have won.

Current British Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak retained his seat in northern England, but his party failed to gain a majority.
Shivani Raja

Shivani Raja was the Conservative candidate; she won the Leicester East constituency, taking a seat from the incumbent Labour Party. She ran against former MPs Claude Webbe and Keith Vaz, who chose to run as independents.
Raja was born and raised in Leicester. She attended Herrick Primary School, Thorn Valley College, Wigston College and Queen Elizabeth II College. She also graduated with first class honours from De Montfort University, majoring in Cosmetic Science.
Kanishka Narayana

Kanishka Narayan was the Labour candidate. He became the first ethnic minority MP for Wales. He defeated Alun Cairns, a former Welsh Secretary of State. He was born in India but moved to Cardiff when he was 12. He won a scholarship to Eton and went on to study at Oxford and Stanford before becoming a civil servant.
Surah Braverman

Conservative candidate Suella Braverman won the seat of Fareham and Waterlooville. She was Home Secretary under Rishi Sunak before being replaced by James Cleverley in a cabinet reshuffle.
