What is called a Ramsar Site?

Any wetland listed under the Ramsar Convention, with the aim of conserving it and promoting the sustainable use of its natural resources, is called a Ramsar site.

On February 2, 1971, the International Convention on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Wetlands was signed in Ramsar, Iran, hence the name Ramsar Wetland.
