Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 gameplay
Warzone 2.0 is the latest version of the popular Warzone game mode, which retains many of the features and game mechanics of its predecessor. Warzone 2.0’s main game mode is Battle Royale, where players compete to be the last player or team standing on a shrinking map.
When the game begins, players parachute onto a large map and must eliminate other players they encounter. As the game progresses and players are eliminated, the playable area of the map shrinks, forcing remaining players into tighter spaces. This shrinking area is called a “circle collapse.”

A new feature in Warzone 2.0 is the introduction of multiple circles in the map. The circles close independently of each other and eventually converge into a safe area. This adds new strategies and dynamic gameplay to the battle royale mode.
When a player dies in Warzone 2.0, they are sent to the “Gulag,” a small arena where dead players fight each other for a chance to respawn back to the main map. In the Gulag, players engage in 1v1 battles, and the winner will get the chance to rejoin the game.
In the initial version of Warzone 2.0, Gulag matches were introduced in a 2v2 format. Additionally, there is an AI combatant named “The Jailer” that players can hunt down to obtain keys and escape the Gulag. However, these changes were reverted in Season 2, with Gulag matches reverting to their original 1v1 format. Jailers have also been removed, and a new overtime point capture system has been introduced.
The in-game currency system from the first Warzone also returns in Warzone 2.0. Players can earn cash during gameplay and use it to purchase various items at purchase stations scattered across the map. These items include custom loadouts with personalized weapon and perk settings.
In addition to the battle royale mode, Warzone 2.0 also introduces a new extraction game mode called DMZ. In the DMZ, players fight against AI-controlled and player-controlled opponents while attempting to escape using the loot they find within the playable zone. Players start with a limited inventory that can be expanded by completing faction missions.
AI combatants play a more important role in Warzone 2.0, defending strongholds and black strongholds across the map in both Battle Royale and DMZ modes. Players can choose to fight these AI enemies, capture strongholds and gain valuable loot. However, following balance updates and changes, AI combatants were completely removed from the battle royale mode in Season 4.
Battlefield 2.0 Season 2 introduces the return of the “Revival” game mode. In Resurgence, players can respawn after being killed and rejoin the match as long as at least one member of their squad is still alive. Respawn has a short cooldown that can be shortened by completing contracts or killing other players.
Season 3 returns with the Plunder game mode, where teams must find piles of cash scattered across the map to amass a total of $1 million. Once found or time is about to run out, the game goes into overtime and all cash totals are multiplied by 1.5. When time runs out, the team with the most money will be declared the winner. In this game mode, players automatically respawn.
In addition to shared progression with Modern Warfare II, Warzone 2.0 also features cross-platform progression and social features shared with Warzone Mobile, the mobile-exclusive version of the game. This allows players to connect with others and play games across different platforms and devices.
